Good strain for partial noob?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by nt3grals, Feb 19, 2016.

  1. I havent grown in a few years, but am wanting to get things going again and was curious as to any suggestions you guys, & girls, may have as to some good strains to get started with again. Something that isn't super difficult to grow. Also, where do you guys suggest I order from? I've always used Attitude Seedbank, & Single Seed Center, but am curious if anyone has any other suggestions. I live in the USA too btw.

  3. myself I like to get some seeds from a bag of reg's and grow them out; why waste money on good seeds when you are learning or dialing in a system? Besides you would be amazed at the quailty that comes from the seeds when grown correctly,

I have the complete opposite view. Grow whatever you want. Not everyone thinks seeds are expensive. Couple dollars a seed is nothing but a drop in the bucket. Op had experience anyways. The vault, gorilla, herbies all good banks plus many others. As far as strains, there's thousands and everyone likes something different. Pick what you want.

  5. I Think you didn't get many responses because you posted in the grow room design section. If you post in absolute beginners you might get more responses. You also didn't mention if you're growing indoors or outdoors,if you want a tall sativa or a short indica, Photoperiod or auto.

I've used the vault and they've been great.

Blue dream is a favorite sativa of mine and it's pretty easy to grow but it really likes to stretch and has long internode spacing so you need a lot of vertical space for it to really shine.

I'm growing blue hash right now. it's short and bushy and hasn't been giving me any problems if you're looking for an indica.

  6. Yeah im sorry about that. I am growing indoors in a 4x4x6 tent with a 1000w MH/HPS light. Im definitely wanting photoperiod also.

  9. A huge advantage to clones over seeds is you're making exact copies of a plant you already know grows well in your setup. I'm not even using mothers. Top them and put the tops in the cloner. Label and keep best of the grow for a mother if you want, or if you have space or a 2nd tent, just start growing the tops after they root. The 25 plant cloner I have was under a hundred bucks and no need to acquire any more seeds, plus all clones are same sex as original plant. I normally only use feminized seeds, photoperiod. Autos can't be cloned and ARE lower in potency then there non auto counterparts. 'Clone' really isn't the right word either since you're really just growing roots on 'cuttings'. Many plants will do that just by being stuck in a cup of water, like the willow tree.

  10. From my old research and e perienced growers I know, I have heard white widow is a good beginner strain with high yield as well as good adaptability for low stress training practice or any other skills you may want to learn/practice.

  11. Northern Lights! Why, cause if you over water it, or under water it, or give it to many nutrients, or to little nutrients, it will somehow survive, and it will always end up giving you some fine bud even after so much abuse, LOL! Seriously, I have tried to kill a few of them in my time and they have always shown me that they can take just about anything. I recall a while back, I had a few plants out of the grow room, in my maintenance room, and my cat knocked over an almost full 1 quart bottle of humboldt nutrients ginormous when we had gone bowling. When I came back, that poor plant was almost smoking. hehe! All the leaves looked all dry and shriveled up, I flushed her with like 40 gallons of water, and in 2 weeks she started to come back, and when she finally did, she gave me some really nice bud, and some nice clones that I am sure one of my current NL mothers came from.

  12. Well I think one of the most important aspects of picking A strains to grow is space. Do you have an area that will allow for a big plant or do you need to grow something short?

I chose norther lights from Nirvana. Great genetics and the plant grows really short and bushy which is perfect for my low key garage setup!

    Good luck with your decision!

  14. Cookies is a natural hermaphrodite, keep a close eye for male parts. Any from a natural herm are MUCH more likely to develope male parts.

  16. The ones you can scrounge up from your buddies and hidden stash. Kill a couple hundred before you waste money on 5 or 10 beans. Hell you might only get shit but you'll learn a lot, Train wreck was from really good bagseed right?

  17. I mean, i have grown Yumbolt, Sour Kandy, & Blue Venom without any issues before. I am however switching from soil to coco this go around. So it will be different. I'll just learn as i go with the coco. Planning on using Ironhead's method too.
