Good LED Grow Light Timers UK

  1. I'm wondering what the best and safest grow light timer is in the UK for a grow light obviously which is 400 true Watts, viperspecture v900 can be controlled with timers so its compatible with timers but i don't know which ones

Can a timer be plugged into an extension lead with the light plugged in also? 13amp fuse on the extension and 13amp fuse on the light plug

Now will a timer affect the voltage in anyway if I plug it all into an extension lead? As my light doesn't reach the main socket with the extension lead

I'm worried if it'll cause any electrical surges

  2. I just use the white digital VivoSun, dual outlets (both outlets run the same programmed time). I got them off Amazon. I bought them in packs of two. I'm in Canada but I imagine they'd have Euro and UK wired models.
I prefer digital timers to mechanical timers because they hold your time after a power outage. Mechanical timers stop keeping time when power is out, so if they go off for 3 hrs, your timer is 3 hrs behind when the power comes back on. You have to remember to re-adjust them when the power is back or your light cycle doesn't match up anymore.
Sometimes they can be a pain to program, but the VivoSun are pretty straight forward.

Yes you can run an extension, just make sure it's a decent guage, as big or bigger than the leads to the driver. The longer the extension, and the bigger the draw, the larger guage you should probably use, obviously. For what you need, I imagine a short extension with matching guage should be fine.
I have two 600W kits on two seperate timers on a single extension cord that's 8 or 10 guage I believe, and about 30' long. It's a heavy duty construction grade extension, weighs a ton. No issues with it, but it's probably a little bit of overkill.

Amperage shouldn't be that bad on a 400W driver, I imagine 2 or less amps, depending on its wiring scheme, the driver type etc.
And those VivoSun timers are rated for like 1200 or 1500W, like most timers I've seen, mechanical or digital.

Hope that helps you ease your mind a bit.

  3. This should work fine.
