Good idea or bad idea?

  1. Currently I am growing 6 plants out of 5 gallon bubble buckets. I have realized that checking the ph, ec, and water levels for each bucket every day is quite some work and I was thinking of ways I could do away with this problem. It occured to me that I could hook up all the buckets to a single drain valve and have it empty into a big drum type reservoir.

If I could make this work, I could just turn a single valve to send all my water to the main res and then check all the water qualities before using a pump to send "fresher" water back to top off each 5 gallon bubble bucket. Does anyone see a flaw in this plan or a better idea? Thank a bunch!

  2. yep, sort of an ebb/flow with dwc buckets. There's a lot of info on this over at ICMAG.

  3. Thanks I was also wondering if there is a more effective method of aerating the water.

I read somewhere of a system that has the plants in buckets like ebb and flow but instead of using air pumps or powerheads to aerate the water, when the water is being sent back to the main res, it goes through a spray head that and passes through the air before landing in the reservoir.

Im not sure how well that technique is but it sounds good to me : ) I would realy love to put away these noisy air pumps and do away with all these airlines but until I figure out how, I guess Im left with the noisiest room in the house.
