going to start using new light, how close?

    Hey i got a 400w hps and i was wondering how close is safe for my plants? how high from the tip of the plant should i have the light, its much more powerful than any light ive used, its a beast...

    im building a hydro setup as well so within the next month i should have all the parts and have it complete, i will definatly post pics at that point so you guys can see the madness hehe :)

    where ever its comfortable for the back of your hand should be comfortable with your plants

    about a foot away from the top of your plants.

    I'll agree with this.

    and add: AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET IT! (with the above in mind)

    using a cool tube i can have plants almost touching my lights :) (mine are also 400w HPS lamps)

    as close as possible! (did i already say that?)

    see the chart that rump posted, you get much more out of your plant with the light closer
