Actually, California won't have any recreational shops open until next year. If you know someone, then he can "gift" you some. Otherwise you need proof of residency to get a doctor's recommendation. Then you can hit any dispensary.
You will have to ask around. I found my weed in Cali by asking smoke shop guys, they would either point me to a street dealer, a dispensary that may not card, or just say sorry don't know. I also found it by just asking people in the streets, but others have a harder time with this straight forward approach than I do.
