For most of us here on earth the most powerful being we see in our lives is our father. Until we are indoctrinated into whatever faith we are lucky or unlucky enough to be born into, our father is most likely the closest thing to the traditional image of the Judeo/Christian/Islamic god.

Now for some of us our father appeared the pinnacle of what a man should be. Strong and protective. Caring and compassionate. Loving and forgiving. He was our hero, our idol. We tested ourselves against him but we never lost respect and admiration. We devoted our entire lives to living up to him and emulating his actions.

And for some of us our father appeared as the pinnacle of unhappiness. Angry and abusive. Selfish and self serving. Cold and resentful. He was our antagonist, our embarrassment. We tested ourselves against him because we couldn't take it any longer. We devoted our entire lives to living in spite of him and striving to do right, everything he did wrong.

Regardless of what you believe or don't believe. Your daddy is your god until your god becomes your daddy.

    ^^real fucking high :smoking::smoke::hippie::bongin:

  3. So was mine. I was actually digging for something deeper than that though.

  4. well I'm not religious so I can't relate to the God part but I can agree that my father inspires me to be everything he wasn't

God is real... doubt if u choose, but the design is grander than ur empirical characters experience's; so, do not let ur intuitive vision be tainted by impartial and incomplete judgements; judgements which are far out of ur mind's evaluating faculty... the eternal love is in U. Ur reflective character must see thru the mist and understand this universal situation for what it is, and not what it seems like...

  6. So what about satan..

  7. ...dude please don't start with that

I just pressed on new posts and thought this sounded interesting, wasn't trying to get into a theological discussion

If I had realized this was the religion section I might have just moved along...

  8. Yes, satan is inside of us as well... for we are beings who are incomplete by nature. A mundane being split between the choice of following his or her self-indulgent ego, or, following the path of communal love. The choice is urs... and, satan symbolizes the all engrossing ego of Man. When we separate, and indulge in our artificial, dependent and hollow ego, we fall from grace, i.e., we lose sight of the reality that we are all essentially One!

  9. Truth
    Ignorance

  10. I was just having fun comparing the different ways people see their father, who appear god-like to us, to the ways in which different people see God. Jesus fucking Christ man, you are the biggest buzz kill on GC. :(

  11. My father is a convict sitting rightfully so in A Texas State Prison......Thank God for prisons

Ur father was a man who fell victim to circumstance; a man who can still manifest and feel love, no matter how bad things have gotten. And, please, remember that ur father is not a reflection of u (in this earthly realm), and I'm not saying u don't know this, but I just want to highlight the fact that u are, at ur deepest core, as ur father is, a being of love -- no matter how the circumstances may play out... God is real.

  13. I do actually like that opinion because it makes sense for many. Personifying and labeling is what humans are good at, not complaining because it's a bit creative.
And God has always been a pinnacle image of the perfect being. A father is what a child clings to, as they do cling to their mother. That's how one could perceive into Mother Earth, Gaia and such. Which is always portrayed as a motherly creature.
While God forsees, takes care of things as a father would when taking home the bacon.
Now the depiction in my head is of a perfect household. Has it's strife, drama, and such but a stable life. One that many strive for, with that I think it could be seen as God could be yo daddy.

  14. Who's your daddy?

  15. interesting thought (I understand what you're saying and I'm not religious either).

I fucking love my papa though

  16. My dad was a dick. He made my life hell when he was alive. In my perspective he was like a living, human version of God. Of course I don't believe in any gods, but I see most of them as selfish, unfeeling, dickheads like my father. Of course I know there are theists who see their god differently and their dad's differently. I just think there is an obvious comparison to how we view deities and our fathers.

  17. sky daddy yayyyyyyyy

  18. Well, if you dig deeply enough through chrisianity and the gnostic texts or what ever, consistant idea arises that not only was jesus God the Father but so is everyone else who chooses to accept it. That is what the message was supposed to be, that the breath of god is in all of us, we are like Pinocchio was to Mr Gepetto. The two are one in the same mind. Until of course Pinocchio gains an ego, then it is up to us to put the "natural man" (which is "an enemy unto god") aside and allow Christ into our lives, Christ stemming from the latin word Christos, which meant "to, for, by or with Christ/the anointed one". The original concept was that once one became "Mr. Gepetto" inside of "Pinocchio" one was labeled with Christos or "with the anointed one".

The history is hard to piece together, I have forgotten the location of many of the trees in this forest.

  19. My dad has good intentions but does more harm that good some times. Yup, sounds like god to me.

  20. If a rational scientist says that something is not true because it hasn't been established with evidence, this negative idea is essentially worthless. If a spiritual zealot says that something is true and excuses himself of validation, this positive idea holds no more value than the opposite negative idea. It's not because it's not true, but because it can never be established as true and shouldn't be accepted on words alone. Information/revelation/wisdom/etc that is not available to everyone only implies that the nature of the information is mysterious, and as soon as you are talking about mysterious information you are in the realm of unknowable degrees of right and wrong about the actual nature of what the information supposedly describes, even on the slim chance that you have a clear and correct understanding of some aspect of that information.

The negative rational claim and the positive spiritual claim have the same practical value.

Here's a good example of this idea. You are admitting that the information you are referencing is of the mysterious type, and advising us about the nature of this information. Some questions are immediately obvious... you say not to be tainted by impartial and incomplete judgements, but would you really say that your judgements are complete? Your suggestion applies to itself, does it not? Thus, the value of your advice is about the same as if you hadn't given it in the first place.

Let's face it, there's no difference when you're getting to the top of that pyramid.
