Gnats / Ladybugs

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by NRevahs, May 3, 2018.

  1. so I've got 3 plants (two 5 gal, one 7 gal) in a 3x3x7 tent. Unfortunately my ladies have gotten a case of the gnats! And I could use some professional help..

I've kept the room and tent clean- vaccuming and wiping surfaces with disinfectant wipes

I've tried dehydrating the plants to almost death but the gnats survived the drought somehow

I've bought 150 ladybugs which has helped but I have 300 more on the way.

    pls help

  3. Sticky traps are great. I always have them up. Also keeping the top of your pots as dry as possible helps.

  4. best way . let the soil dry up on the top before watering . the bugs will not come . second best bet . throw some beach sand on top of the soil . . and for a bug trap leave a pan of water out check it in 24 hours see how many of those dam bugs are in it the next day .

  5. Fungus gnats are easy to get rid of. Yellow stickies for the adult flyers and 3 drenches with Gnatrol for the larvae. I always keep yellow stickies hanging just in case. Good luck

  6. Diatomacious earth is great. Ladybirds won't eat the gnats because the larvae live in soil.

If you're in coco then peroxide in your water will destroy them pretty effectively.

  7. Neem oil is also great

  8. Does it work on Blight?

Any plants that I put outside here get blight after a week. I've tried neem oil and peroxide but that only slows it down.

  9. I'm having some gnats too, neem didn't do much, sticky traps help catch flyers, soils been dry for a while, and fans over the soil and area 24/7 as well. Still have gnats.

I was told to use mosquito dunks in my water when watering. Theyre made for ponds but people use them for their cannabis gardens too. They're deemed organic as well, won't kill beneficial things I guess. I'll let you know how it goes for me. Gonna get some tomorrow. Can be found at local hardware store or wal marts

  11. The mosquito dunks worked great. 2 days later and no more gnats. Here's the instructions given to me in the thread I made:

  12. Add dolomite lime to the soil and a lil epsom salt.

  13. Blight is systemic I don't think either would help.

  14. So if you have a gnat problem the best thing to do is to make sure you have proper air flow over the top soil. I have an inch or two of the fabric pot above the soil line and that cause enough stagnant air for the gnats to thrive. I cut the fabric pot down to soil level and aimed a fan over the soil and that took care of the problem. Taken you keep everything else clean.

thank you everyone for the solid tips and advice and god speed
