Gnat's in my soil

  1. I got more gnats in my closet than clothes, what's the best way to get rid of them? Should i try throwing sand over the soil, I already threw in some apple vinegar hoping they would head to that and die, but none seem interested in anything but the soil and hanging out on my leaves.

  2. They have an unhealthy attraction to the color yellow. The yellow sticky paper fly traps work great. They are cheap so put several in there and you'll get them eventually.

You might want to treat your soil with peroxide or neem oil to kill the larvae they laid in there, they will go after your roots and may cause you some problems. Sand layer helps to prevent them from laying in the first place, but if you see them flying around then chances are the soil orgy has been going on for some time.

    Good luck!
