Scientists use quantum mechanics to show that glass will melt near absolute zero

    Pretty cool

  2. Glass...melting near the lowest temperature possible? Pretty cool stuff.

  3. makes sense everything has a gas phase

solid phase (sand) -> liquid phase (glass) -> gas phase (look up)

and yes glass is a liquid so its not actually melting its boiling :smoke:

  4. There's so much fail in this post, I almost want to die.

  5. Lol back when I was a kid I used to feel snow and ice and wonder how it could make my hands so cold that they burned. I had a childish theory that the idea of "cold" was just so hot that instead of burning you it had a completely different reaction then we were used to.

I lold when I saw that glass melted at -450 degrees.

    So our temperature should be

(450 degrees HOT AS FUCK) -------------------- 0 degrees ------------------ (450 degrees HOT AS FUCK TOO) why the fuck do you need negatives?! =O

My god this post contains so much fail that I had to make an account just to tell you that.

You need negatives because every scale is based on relativity. There is a temperature scale with no negatives. It's called Kelvin. 273 Kelvin = 0 Celcius = 32 Farenheit. 0 Kelvin is the lowest temperature theoretically possible. Temperature is a function of energy, thus at that low of temperature the molecules/atoms have so little energy they cannot exist as atoms anymore. And before you say derp derp derp no one uses Kelvin, accualy it is the internationally agreed upon unit for measuring temperature among major scientific organizations.

No -450 Farenheit is cold. It's just that extreme hot and extreme cold cause PAIN, in humans atleast. Thus we experience them as somewhat the same thing.

  7. Im going to give you the good and the bad here, The good is, I'm glad my fail post inspired you to join grasscity to enlighten me on my shortcomings!
The bad is, to me you come off as a cock.

    Friends?!

  8. I don't care and you shouldn't care either. I'm just some random person typing on a computer that you've never met. Don't worry about what I think just go live your life and don't say things about things when you haven't looked cause theres always someone who knows more than you.

  9. I'll throw some heavy buckets full of glass at you and tell me if you get wet (blood doesn't count).

  10. so much contradictions.

  11. alot of threads these days are becoming hate fests.

like bring some cheer into this thread.
    :smoke:

but who cares about glass, test thing on diamonds or something

  12. WHAT? The FUCK? Glass is the way to go. But I would like to smoke out of a 100% diamond bong. If I get rich as fuck, I'm gonna do this.

    You have inspired me.

    CHEER!

    :hello:
    :hello:
    :hello:
    :hello:
    :hello:
    :hello:

  13. Could you imagine taking a hit out of a glass bong cooled down to 1 kelvin? It would be so cold. Accualy it would probably be immposible and if you inhaled gas that was that cold it would probably kill you.

  14. would be possible, but yes depending on how far away the 1K liquid is away from where you are pulling it into your mouth would determine if it killed you, froze your lungs and/or throat or worked freaking outstanding. Of course if you could afford to cool something that much AND knew how to do it you could also work out how far you would need to be away from it for it not to kill you.

as for the rest of the thread, yes everything will "melt". It all depends on the temp., pressure and volume your dealing with. It's called Physics I class.

  15. LOL well welcome to the City , dick

  16. Am I the only one who notices "cool new thing" stated he thought the cold was hot when he was A KID? Cool doesn't seem to care, but your posting could chill out dude

  17. I think something just happened in my pants

  18. That's what I was thinking. Some people are just retarded. Do you expect a kid to understand something like that?
