Take classes on glass blowing/lamp making and find someone to apprentice under. A guy at my lhs was telling me that there's a school in NJ, I think it's Salem Community College, they offer a 2 yr curriculum in scientific glass blowing. Which is why there are a lot of artists in the PA region.
