Getting Forgetful

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Roach-Killa, Jun 4, 2009.

  1. Hey all
    Need some advice........ :smoking:

Been puffin the herb for about two years now once every week or two.
My mate found a way to get nice amounts ganja to the UK so ive been smoking Amnesia Haze from amsterdam that weigh 2.0 or so for £15 (8th) i get a £5 discount.

Smoked it every day for about a week though ive decided to take a short break and ive noticed that i occasionally forget things that i usually dont forget.

    Examples
Woke up had a shower ate breakfast and walked to UNI. Half way there i realised I forgot to brush my teeth! WTF! I dont think I have ever not brushed my teeth in the mourning untill now.

Came back to the halls and my freind gave me the £10 he owed me and about 10 seconds later when he was walking off i turned around and asked you gonna give me that £10?

I really am getting worried....... I keep thinking its got to be the Herb but i cant be sure.
I dont drink regularly or take any other drugs .......

My freinds tell me that its nothing .... but i wanna make sure!
Can someone with some true smoking experience elaborate on this for me please?

If weed really does kill your brain cells and make you retarded I am stopping from smoking now! Infact im not smoking anymore untill I get reassured! I demand the truth! THE TRUTH!

I didnt wanna call that ass hole frank up cause I know thats just total bullshit information to stop people from smoking weed.

    Many Thanks
    ANDY! :gc_rocks:

  2. I've noticed that I've got a tiiiiny bit more forgetful; I've been smoking for 2 and a half years, but I've also been drinking in that time, doing acid, shrooms, LSA, BZP etc... So I can't say it's from the weed. And anyway, it's hardly anything at all; just really small things. It used to be quite a lot worse, I'd forget lots of things - that was when I was about 16, 17 - but now that I'm 18 and a half, I dunno, seems fine, don't really have any memory problems. Might just be for developing brains? Hmm.

One thing - it does NOT kill brain cells.
    ..or make you retarded. :rolleyes::)

Quite a few people think that it can effect your memory. But hey, if someone thinks that it will effect their memory, then it will. Your mind is more powerful than you think.

But if you really have noticed your memory has gone down hill.. I suppose the only thing to do is to quit for a couple of weeks, see if you notice any difference.

  3. coming to a marijuana website for this kinda thing might not be the best place for an un-biased answer.

quite honestly, stoners' memories arent as good as others..... mine sucks

  4. weed doesn't kill brain cells. i have always been somewhat forgetful of stupid things. weed hasn't made a noticeable difference to me though.

  5. cannabis affects the short term memory of the user, but only when under the influence, so yeah you might be a bit forgetful the day after due to the residial thc in the system, but MJ actually is a neuro protectant

FROM THE US GOVERMENTS OWN PATENT:
    Abstract
Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention. A particular disclosed class of cannabinoids useful as neuroprotective antioxidants is formula (I) wherein the R group is independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, and COCH3.

  6. I only get forgetful when I'm under the influence of extremely potent marijuana.

But otherwise, no I'm not forgetful at all.

No, marijuana does not kill your braincells, nor does it make you retarded. The only thing that could kill your brain cells while smoking marijuana is if you hold your hits in for a while and your brain cells die off from lack of oxygen. But that's from the lack of oxygen, not the marijuana.

  7. Well, tch does bind to the receptors in the area of short term memory, as far as I remember (lol), so it does affect memory in some way. However, marijuana has never had any chronic effects, EVER..

  8. Thanks for the information guys....
Im still gonna do some more reasearch into this ...
Oh and i think ill stop playing killer with my joints from now on.

I want to be more aware of the long term effects of smoking weed.
Ive read loads about the positive effect of it and a fare bit about the negative effects of it.

I dont use bongs, pipes or bowls i just smoke from a roll. Anyone know about the negative effects from smoking weed in a joint? I mean whether or not they are true?
Like ageing of the skins and stuff etc.

  9. when i smoke a lot my short term memory is awful while high and slightly worse than normal when sober.

when i smoke a little my short term memory is worse when high and slightly to no worse when sober.

  10. that happens to me, but when you take a break from smoking, your memory comes back.

  11. I think memory loss only gets bad when you start thinking about forgetting things...i never worry about the fact that i am impairing my memory, and i never forget anything important. Everyone forgets the little things sometimes, dont worry about it.

  12. You're overthinking this.

Go read some studies if you're really worried.
