Hey, I've been germin 3 seeds for the past 2 days and noticed that one has sprouted. Hopefully one of them will be a lady. Anyway, i have read quite a few threads but none are clear on when i transfer the seeds to my cup with soil what conditions should they be in, should they still be in the same conditions as before e.g dark room @ room temp or shall i put them in grow box with the lights on @ higher temp? Also when the seedlings break through the soil should i keep the light on for 24/7 for a few day then revert to 18/6? strain-himalaya gold lights are 1 x 250w cfl 6400k + 2 x 25w soft white 2700k cfls soil cana pro (organic) I know this is probably a stupid question but i wouldn't want to mess up on the first hurdle. I'd be greatful for any help. Graco1
transplanting will depend on growth rate of the plant. Do you have drainage holes in the pot now? When they pop out of the soil, keep the soil moist, I like to use a spray bottle with the 'mist attachment'. I would leave them in a 24/0 light on cycle, plants can grow 25-35% faster vs an 18/6 schedule, although some like to do it for both costs, and to give there plants a break each night. If you do decide to end up swithing to an 18/6, wait until after you transplant. You'll want the temp somewhere between 70-80F for seed with high humidity. vegging, or after the transplant, you can drop the temp to 70-75 with 60-70% humidity when you come to flowering them (12/12), you will want about same temp as veg, but low humidity 40-50% or lower.
Thanks for your help. I haven't transplanted the seeds to my cups yet but i will follow the 'Germination' sticky and add holes in cup, water well, let drain for 15/30mins before planting the seeds. so you say once the seed has been planted in the cup it should be at around 75-80 deg? I would need to put the lights on to get this temp so i take it i would be better leaving light on 24/7 until the seed has sprouted and is established. i've read that 18/6 lighting is better as its more natural and the lights out period benifits the plant. I suppose it's what ever works for you, i think i'll go for 18/6 - saves on elec too. Thanks again. Graco1
Yep, you want it to be nice and warm and cozy for a plant, think about just like human birth and growing up as a kid. lol Make it very plesant for them, and get the humidity up. and yeah as far as 18/6 vs 24/0 its really optional each grower is granted a choice for vegging
