Germination Question (Soil and Lights)

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by liquid069, Jun 25, 2008.

  1. I have two seeds that have about an inch of taproot coming out

Should I put them in the ground now or wait?

I have the option of an HPS or a CFL 3000K color or 5500K color multiple bulbs at 27watts each and the HPS is 100 watt.

Which Lights are best for germination?

Also should I just use 60/40 potting soil/perlite? or another combination?

Reccommendations? Knowledge from experiences??? Much Appreciated

  2. Well I got ancy and put them into a 60/40 soil/perlite combo with a little extra soil at top. Taproot facing down and about 1/4" of soil sprinkled on top. I put sandwich bags over the top of the cups to keep moisture in.

Should I be putting them under lights at this point? If so which color soft white or daylight and how many real CFL watts? I have the option of up to 108watts daylight or about 130 Soft white? Combination of the two?

    PLEASE HELP!!

  3. Yes, you picked a good time to plant, maybe a tad too long however, you dont want the tap root too long that the seed is starting to open.

Some will tell you the hps is better, because its stronger, however if this is your first time, pick up some 6500K CFL's.

60/40 was a little much, about 20-30 percent perlite is best.

  4. should they go under light right away or wait till i see them pop through the soil?

How many 6500K cfl's should i have on them?
