Hey guys so this is my first time ever posting in grasscity and I'm planning on doing a journal of my grow after I get it growin. So I'm stuck in the germination stage and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. To start it off I left it in a cup of distilled water for about a day and a half then transferred it over to my rockwool. When I transferred it there were no signs of the root coming out or anything. So once inside my rockwool stuck inside some hydroton already in the reservoir. I let it sit and sit and sit checking up periodically. To keep things short its not growing really fast at all, its already been almost 2 weeks and the root is still super tiny curling along the underside of the seed. Am I doing something wrong? my setup is in a growbox at around room temp of 75 and I've got some lights on to keep warm and fans for vents.
Hey man. What kind of lights are u using? Also it sounds like you got a hydro setup. where is your water level at if you are in fa t using a hydro system. I prefer the papertowl method myself. That way you can see the tap root sprout. -Kyung Yi
thanks for the replies, should i just take it out and go with the paper towel? i already know that the root came out, but i'm not sure how to put the seed back into the rock wool when the roots too long, i dont want to damage it :/ i'm using good o cfl's and my seed sits right on top of the water level
Viable seeds usually sink to the bottom of the cup after a day. That lets you know that they have absorbed water (which is the point of having it in a cup of water). It's possible you just got some bad seeds. I also use the soak method and I have near 100% germination rate, but I don't use rockwool so there might be something different about that medium that I can't help you with. Why even grow from seeds though if you live in LA? I would just get clones if I lived in Cali. Good luck either way.
Yeah my seed sank to the bottom of the cup after a day, then i transferred it straight to the rockwool. The tap root is slowly coming out, but really slowly. Does that also mean its a bad seed? Thanks though
