So I'm doing the paper towel method, I got 3x northern lights seeds in a napkin folded over on a paper plate with another paper plate covering it. Well the paper towel keeps drying out and I just keep putting more water on it to keep it moist. I barely started last night and woke up and noticed it was barely wet then left all day and came home to see it was dry again. Is this gonna fuck up my seeds if it keeps getting dry? I can be more vigilant in keeping water on it now that I know but is their something I should be doing different? Any help would be appreciated. Next time I think I'll just get rapid rooters or something...
It needs to be in a baggy... if you don't have a baggy the seed just needs to go in a cup of water... or straight in the soil.. the paper towel method isn't going to work well the way you are attempting it... I usually start all my stuff out in jiffy pellets now... before then I put them in cups of water for 2-3 days until the taproot sprouted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So much easier with a cup of water lol. What I do is pH the water to 6 and hit it with a couple drops of superthive. Toss seed in, put in a warm place within 2 days, seed germinates a 1 inch taproot and I plant. So so simple. My current 6 Jock Horror Autos, coco coir grow.
I'm afraid it may just be time to bury her in the ground and mourn... maybe she'll rise in three days like our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DUDE your not helping damnit. I went through a bit of trouble to get these seeds. Instead of burying them Ima get a nut cracker and force that tap root out lol
I mean if they they are in the paper towel and no germination. You can throw them into a cup of water. Though I prefer pHed and superhive. Standard tap water should work OK unless you have superhard water and the ppms are to high. My current 6 Jock Horror Autos, coco coir grow.
Yea I just put them in a cup of tap water and put it in a dark quiet cupboard. That was gonna be my second choice. It actually looks like one is starting to open already but I don't wanna take any chances on losing them from the napkin drying out
I'm 10 for 10 in just soaking in tap water, store in warm dark place. Some of my seeds took over 40 hours for taproot to show . Which concerned me at first since I read something saying to remove seeds from water after 32 hours, they will drown. I'm going to keep using this method till it quits working for me. So far haven't had one drown on me.
On those rapid rooters, how long before they go bad? I only do 2-3 plants at a time so would I have to buy a new bag every grow?
I don't know how long before they go bad. My hydro shop bags them in 25's for $4. Even though I only use a few out of the 25 - it's only $4 for fresh ones.
