Im sure this has been discussed before but im having lots of trouble germinating. Particularly the Northern Lights auto seeds I got. I was only suscessful on 1 out of 10 seeds. Im wondering if itwas one of the seed banks I purchased it from. My last crop that I grew I didn't have near this much trouble. I tried the paper towl method for the first set of five and then put the seeds into small containers with soil once they sprouted, and the second set of 5 I germinated in rockwool in one of those humidity domes with a heat blanket and it looks like none of them are going to survive. I really want try growing some Northern Lights auto but im thinking I should maybe try another strain. Or maybe I should ask the seed bank for a refund which I doubt id get.
Most seed banks specify that you aren't suppose to germinate them I believe, which kills the chance of refunds. I hope I'm wrong and they fix it for you. Sounds to me like you are over complicating the whole thing. Put the seed in your soil, keep it warm and moist. It'll pop up
Out of 10 seeds i got, 6 germed and 4 would not crack. I kept em moist n warm no luck. U might wanna try what the other poster suggested and pop em directly in soil. I did the moist towel method. What are you doing to keept it moist? I put serran wrap over the plate for mines to retain moisture.
Correct me if I am wrong but I was told that the Northern Lights is one of the easiest strains to grow. Are they getting enough light once you transplant them to the soil? Not sure if you have bad seeds or not but I would be leary? Which seed bank you get from?
Nirvana. Ive germinated them straight from the rockwool and used a humidity dome to keep them moist with one CFL light with no success and also tried germinating them in a paper towl and then I transfered them into soil and used the same ammount of light and lightly sprayed them to keep them mosit and still had no success. The issue is not getting them to sprout, its just that once they do them just seem to die for some reason. And your right NL is supposed to be easy to grow that why I wanted to try them
Did you soak seed in water before rockwool? I have found this helps... Here's the procedure I have come to adopt: 1. soak seed on low ppm water 16-24 hours, keep warmish 2. tap seed gently if floating, sinking is a good sign 3. put seed between wet paper towels, keep warm ~ 24 hours 4. once taproot is 1 cm long, place in rockwool (that has been soaked several hours in low ppm water) root down, or soil, keep warm
I just read your whole last post... Are you only spraying the seedling once it sprouts and not watering the soil? If the delicate taproot dries out the seedling will die.... And if you are spraying the soil you may need more moisture in the soil to get them to sprout... I'm a little unclear on where exactly in the process your seedling is struggling
Im not watering the soil just spraying it. I read that you shouldnt spray the seedling after it has sprouted. Maybe I should just go back to the way I did it before. Paper towl method then water once a day after the seed has sprouted and I have placed it in soil. I never had those problems before
Question........Should I be using any light and should I be covering them with anything? Seems like the first crop I germinated during the summer in the good ol sunlight was the best. Now its too cold for outdoor germination though
