Hey... I read a couple of manuals and some threads here on how to germinate. From the thread of Stylez1877 and from an ebook from beginners guide of growing marijuana. They recommend to used wet paper towels. However when I read Todd McCormick book, he recommends bottled water only. I also came accross somewhere on this forum that he mix Hydrogen Peroxide with water to kill molds... So I guess I want to know which method is better.... also would it matter to use tap water? distilled bottle water? mineral water? boiled??? filtered watter? I also read somewhere to leave the tap water in the glass for 24 hours so chlorine will evaporate... Another thing, When I read Todd Mccormick book, I read a couple of times when you already identified if the plant is male, immediately kill it. why???? btw I am a newbie hehe... god i took me almost 2 years to come up with seeds... I have tasted weed for ages already... hehehe I hope for ur reply soon... thanks
wow that long? o well the best method is to use wet paper towels in a tupperware (airtight) container 3 layyers of paper towel on the bottom and 2 on top with distilled or tap water left for a day or two. then place on some heat source like your monitor or comp vent.
Most any water that you want to use... Drop the seeds in a cup of room temperature water over night. Then put them in the paper towels. Also, most like to "kill" the males when they are positively ID'd as males so thay will not pollinate your females. No pollinated females, no seeds... If you want to have seeds let a male or two live next to your females. However, most like the usually higher quality and igher yield of seedless.
Unless you have major water problems, tap water should be fine. Do leave it sit out for 24 hours to let chlorine evaporate. Paper towel method does the job just fine. Helps to warm them slightly while germing, place them on a plate and put that on top of a TV, computer monitor, stereo, etc for extra warmth. Males are separated because you don't want to pollinate your females. Pollinated females produce seedy buds, less smokable yield.
Yea, males will just polinate the females, and then your killa bud has just become mersh. However, you don't have to nessacerily kill the males there are a few things you can do with them. 1) You can cut some of the branches off and use them to clone other males if you ever wanted to get some seeds going. Just don't make the clones flower (actually I have no idea if a cloned male will be a male or if it can be a female but who knows). 2) You can just kill it and throw it away. 3) You can take the plant, and make a green dragon drink (get a high alcholol content drink, such as 151 and then grind up the whole plant, and let it disolve in the alcolol for about a month, strain the leaves, then drink it and you'll gte high.) 4) You can make hash from the plant, just read the making hash thread in general I think,
