I started to germinate last june 29, and still I dont have sprout from my seeds... I am not sure if I am just being impatient or did I put too much water from the paper tower? Since this is my first time to do this, I documented this process. hehe... What I did was the paper towel and put it on the top of my CRT monitor. After 24 hrs, I notice it produce some sort of unlikely smell... (smell like old dirty water) And I also notice that the tupperware plastic is really warm... well... I am not sure if the heat from my Monitor is too much and it will spoil my seeds. And just now I was checking the photos that I took while I put water to the towel... I was thinking if I've put too much water and I really didn't like the smell of the moisted water... So what I did is transfered the seeds from a different paper towel and used filtered water. I guess... my main questions are: 1) did I put too much water from exhibit A? ) 2) Is it ok wont hurt the seed if i transfer the it from a different paper towel? 3) Did I put enough water from exhibit B? ) 4) Will it spoil the germi process with too much heat from my Monitor? and is the heat source is really essential in the process? 5) Will it help if I put in a dark place? or I do need sunlight with this process? 6) And how can I tell that my seeds are already bad/spoiled? Thanks....
im a noob myself..& i havent completely got the germination thing down fully..but are you using just 2 paper towels?? im pretty sure you should use several layers..but if im wrong , someone correct me oh also , im sure its damp towels , from what i see you got a lil puddle goin on in te first pic
hehe... its not really paper towel... I used just plain tissue from a coffee shop... And its very thin layer of tissue paper... So i used several layers.. like may 3 thin layers of tissue then 1 to 2 tissue paper from the top....
I wrapped my seeds in a big paper towel which made it have like 5 layers. Then put them in a plastic bag, left it open and wet the paper towels everyday. They germinated in like 2 days.
ah i see , well id recommend getting some paper towels..i dont know if your seeds are ruined or not , just wait for someone with more knowledge on the subject to come in & answer your question
By no means am i a master at this but i've had about an 80% success rate sprouting seeds like this: Get 3 paper towels Get a tupperware box Put the paper towels in the box Put the seeds on the paper towels and fold the papers towels over the seeds in half Water the paper towels with some type of filtered water (refridgerator, bottled, or distilled is fine) Pour enough, but you dont need a puddle (If you have a little puddle its not that big of a deal, some people sprout their seeds in a full cup of water so don't worry to much) Too much is better than too little The most important thing i've found is that its in a dark place Unless you live somewhere really cold, don't worry about a heat source, i've never done that and been fine (Considering its july i dont think its too cold where you guys live) After a day, open up the paper towels, fan some fresh air in there, and maybe rewater it a little The bagseeds i just sprouted took 2 days, with a couple that took longer so just be patient I think thats about it Oh and make sure you don't press down too hard on the paper towels around the seeds
Cold? Damn!!! I haven't see snow in my whole life... hehehe Climate here from where I live is humid and recently its very hot... I am guessing tonight is like 87F to 90F maybe? the weather we only experience is rain and the sun. hehehe btw primativezen... would it matter if i use thin paper/tissue papers? thanks for your tips.. cheers!
never tried with tissue, i guess as long as you keep it wet itll be fine. wait wtf, paper towels cost maybe 89 cents, just go buy some
Ok, looks like your seeds are swimming dude... The way i germinate is... Saucer, with some 2 layers of paper towel and then a layer of tissue. the seeds then on top well spaced..... then layer of tissue on top then two more layers of paper towel. Wet the whole lot with room temp water, but only enough so it feels damp but not visably drowned. Put another saucer on top, with all tissue paper pushed under so none is eposed. (exposing the tissue paper will lead to the water evaporating. Put in a dark warm area, like a desk drawer. and wait a minimum of 2 days before checking. DON"T rewater unless all water is gone. THE SCIENCE: Tissue paper is used to create a bed of satuation becasue the un-germinated marijuana seed is hard and lifeless. The water surrounding the seed activates it to start absorbing the water. Then it's able to start it's life.
