  1. recently ive started getting really into george carlin. it makes me upset because i didnt start listening to him until after he died, and now ill never get to meet him. :(

i feel like hes one of the brilliant minds of our time. what does every else think about him?

  2. He is magnificent, you got good taste in comedy. No other person in my eyes can compare to George Carlin's blunt sense of humor, so truthful and confident. Try to find his audio comedy, you can catch some of his shows on like HBO and stuff. Later buddy enjoy Carlin!

  3. the first time watched george carlin i was 11, never laughed so hard in my life, i really love his comedy, and i was pretty bummed when he died

  4. I don't find George Carlin all that funny.

If you remove the shouting and the cussing, all his humor really amounted to was a constant attempt to violate social taboos for cheap laughs.

  5. love carlin, seen all his specials
(which can easily be found to download :D)

a straight truth-teller, which is rare.

his bit on organized religion is one of the top standup bits of all time imho.

RIP george... be glad that you aren't alive to see the shit hit the fan (even though you always said you would like to)

  6. He was a fucking amazing comedian. Sir Elliot, I suggest you try listening to some of his older stuff. As he got older he burned out a little and started sticking in material for shock value, pretty much to fill up time, but when he was younger he did some fucking awesome stuff.

Anyways, we always lose the best ones too soon. RIP Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, I'm certain everybody can name a few.

  7. My first introduction to George Carlin was in the movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I was like 11 or 12.

He was definitely one of the most brilliant comedians of all time.

  8. What are some of his bits that are supposedly funny?

All he does is drop curse words loudly, try really hard to be 'counter-cultural' and ends up just supporting whatever the liberal position was at the time he was making the joke.

I mean, I'll watch something if you want me to watch it and evaluate it fresh... but nothing I've seen of his is very funny or original. Just curse words, loudness, and liberalism.

  9. the second part may be true, but i find it very hard to believe that you don't think he's funny. i respect your opinion, but perhaps you're trying too hard not to conform or something, but George Carlin was funny!
i'm curious to know, what are some comedians you consider funny?

  10. My dad and I used to watch him all the time. He was a great comedian.

Probably the best of all time.

  12. Very funny, but towards the end he was too political, and even when you agreed with him you were like 'Alright, tell a fucking joke already...'
