What a dude! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h2EYPvQDqE&feature=related]YouTube - George Carlin on Politically Incorrect Part 1[/ame]
Carlin had a really unique political view, and I find myself agreeing with just about everything he says. The guy was a philosopher, and a pretty damn good one if you ask me. Edit: That annoying black guy in the suit sounds a lot like a few people around here...
You mean the guy who was mostly made to sound annoying and continually interrupted the whole time? I don't even think George Carlin made any great points during this segment like he did in his standups. Personally I think threads like this are garbage, they don't really promote anything except something Carlin was against; Circle Jerking. All I'm saying what you posted here was a segment that was definitely left leaning(Bill Maher normally is tho ) and only two types of things will happen from this posting. The people who like George Carlin, Bill Maher, or the left, will sit around and talk about how amazing he is, while the people from the right will get in their own little circle(possibly in the same thread) and talk about how wrong he is or how much bullshit the show is(which God it really is, it's the O'Reilly factor 2.0(or .5 idk which show came first). Not really hating on your thread(although I am), I'm just saying that almost any clip from his stand up would've been a better position to start from when you're talking about George Carlin and politics. Then we could've gotten down to the man's actual politics and maybe discussed them and how they could, should, or would be implemented. Instead of sitting here talking about how great he is, how annoying the black guy is, how much we agree with him without making any specifics points to anything he said or even why what he said was great. I don't know, it just seems stupid to me that we watch a clip of one of the most recent great minds on a show we're everybody except one guy seemed to agree with him and that one guy is clearly the most annoying person that they could've found to support that position. What I'd love to see is George Carlin debate his politics with an educated cast where the moderator doesn't have an agenda.... it's not really a possibility anymore but I think it'd be about a thousand times better than sitting down in a circle. Just my .02
Yet there he is, in a circle no less, a-tuggin on that knob. Yet here you are, in a circle no less, contributing to the stroke job. Way to not create any actual discussion and just prop up a nice scarecrow for us to stare at. eBay was around during this clip? Jesus I feel old.
I fucking hate it when people group everything into the left vs the right. I love Carlin but hate Maher does that make me in the middle? Left vs right is not the issue at hand and until people realize that nothing is going to change.
I, and probably most blades into Mr. Carlin, are already extensively versed in his standup. I dug this up randomly on youtube and thought i'd share with you blades how the man does in a completely political setting, as opposed to a comedic stand-up one. Don't take it too seriously, just thought it would be fun to watch. As for the circle jerk, that's usually a phrase people choose to use when they are "butthurt" (if I may continue with the brash terminology) for any reason. There is only one right and wrong. Personally I don't care too much for pitter-pattering around the point, I like what Carlin has to say, and it doesn't necessarily have to spark a left-vs-right debate. Carlin himself knew the left-right dichotomy was bullshit.
