Gelato Grow Log [Coco Coir] (Feb 09, 2021 Start)

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by greenthumbartisan, Feb 18, 2021.

  1. I have found with seeds, getting the humidity dome off as soon as they shed they shed their hats, like off to work they go. (Harder with larger numbers as sometime you have to push the wait) Helps with the stretching problem, as well as possible bacterial or fungi infections that can happen in the high humidity.
Sorry just here in catching up on your journal here and maybe someone else already said this.
I was wondering what ppm you run your seedling solution at?

  3. Thanks. Yea, I will definitely be removing dome sooner next time. I don't recall off hand, but think EC was around 1.25 with seedling solution.

    IMG_0808.jpg

Still having issue with what looks like Mag deficiency. Getting yellowing along edges and veins of the leaves while veins are green. Started with oldest leaves and making its way up to newer ones.

I think its unlikely the solution doesn't have enough magnesium in it and pretty sure there's probably a PH issue going on.

The Roots Organics nutrients being used does have a significant swing in PH. I let the solution sit for 24-hours before using in watering as PH rises significantly. Noticed PH even continues to creep up 48-hours later. Tested runoff and it was showing PH of 7.2 despite watering with solution PH 5.8-6.2 every watering.

Going to try switching to Mills Nutrients next watering and see what happens over the next couple of days.

    Watered with:
    Purified Water
    8ML CalMag
    8ML Buddha Grow
    8ML Trinity
    8ML Surge
    10ML Ancient Amber
    *per gallon
    PH 6.2
    EC 2.10
    * Runoff PH 7.2

    Temps: 68F-70F
    Humidity: 50%-60%

  13. Day 25: March 06, 2021

    day 25.jpg

Switching to Mills Nutrients and watering with:
    CalMag+ - 10ML
    Mills Nutrients Part A - 10ML
    Mills Nutrients Part B - 10ML
    Mills Nutrients Start-R - 4ML
    *per galllon (Using RO water)
    PH 5.9
    EC 2.67

Watered with 1L solution per pot to get near 100% runoff. Girls are still in 1L pots. Planning to move to 3.6Gallon Superroots Air Pots tomorrow (just waiting for some air hoses for reservoirs in the larger space)

    day 26.jpg

Moved girls to 3.6Gallon Superroots Air Pots, added endomycorrhizal fungi to support root development, and moved into main tent under 2x Gavita 1700e LEDs.

Watered each pot with 1-gallon solution mixed with 5ML CalMag+ per gallon PH 5.8.

Setup water reservoirs each with 15-gallons and mixed solution for next feeding:
    RO Water (0.08 EC)
    CalMag+ - 5ML
    Mills Nutrients Part A - 10ML
    Mills Nutrients Part B - 10ML
    Mills Nutrients Start-R - 4ML
    *per gallon
    2.02 EC
    5.8 PH (Didn't require any PH UP/DOWN :) )

  17. Is the lower set of PVC just their carseat for the ride or does it have a different purpose? Strapped in and ready to roll!

  19. It’s been many years since my last grow, but one of my biggest pain points I remember was managing plants after they get larger and start growing through trellis net. With those memories scarred in my mind, I decided to build modular cages for each plant so I can easily take them in and out for management. The lower PVC is simply there to secure the pots when moving them around. The cages are easily adjustable for different pot sizes, trellis heights, etc.

  20. Thanks. Yea, I did a few other grows a long time ago were I was constantly trying to jerry rig stuff and always reactively trying to solve problems. This time around, I wanted to avoid cutting any corners in the build and do the best setup I could. Trying to proactively avoid headaches this time around. :)
