GC Artists: I Need Help With A Painting!

Discussion in 'The Artist's Corner' started by Renegade Angel, May 8, 2011.

  1. I'm sketching out a scene on a small canvas right now, basically drawing out the scene. But I really don't want to mess it up and I'm not sure what would be the best method of coloring it.

The scene is basically a female surrounded by the undead (like a zombie apocalypse. But I haven't drawn the zombies yet)

I have acrylic paints that I was going to use on it, but I'm not much of a detailed painter. What method is best for a detailed canvas portrait? Colored pencil? Acrylic paint?

Thanks in advance. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome.

  3. If its on canvas, Acrillic paint will work fine, but the colors will be more bright than watercolor. Just use small brushes for the details, maybe a toothpick in the more detailed parts.

If you're doing it on paper then colored pencils will work best.

Also, depending on exactly how experienced of a painter you are, you might want to do some test studies on seperate paper or canvas, like just trying out brush techniques and stuff.
