Ok so the question here is do you think gaining the world brings you happiness? Our whole society is raised to gain the world , get as much property, money, ect. Express your thoughts on why you think the world is better or worse through gaining and do we achieve a satisfying happiness? IMO i believe that were all confused and just running ina circle till we die and realized that everything we ever try to gain is not going to stick with us so why did we try so hard our whole life~?!
Have you ever seen anybody mad while riding a Jet Ski? ...but for real love and peace within yourself is happiness.
"gaining the world" as you put it is a means to quick, impermanent happiness in this life. shedding the ego and all of its attachments is a means to lasting happiness in this life and the next
Material items satisfy the ego. They are good at first, but they eventually get you bored. So you need to buy something else. And then that doesn't satify you anymore, so you buy more. And it's a cycle that never stops because the ego CAN'T be satisfied. As long as you are in the grips on the ego, you will always have a void, you will always feel like something is missing or that you are never completely happy and satisfied with what you have. That's just the nature of the ego, it can't be satisfied. So when you don't identify with the ego and you balance it, you will suddenly start to feeling happy. That is the happiness that comes from within. When you let go of your ego and return to your true self/awareness/consciousness you will feel love and bliss automatically. The outside world will not have an effect on you. You will get all of your happiness simply from being. By just "being" you will be fulfilled with any amount of love and bliss you need. - peace, joy, love, and light
yeah the truth is when your intellect out plays your optimism all you can fight for is power. like ill always be true but its fuckin hard when nothing works out right
Sounds boring. I agree with the OP in that we're just confused and running around in pursuit of 'stuff'. I disagree in that the 'why' doesn't matter.
i think that our belief in a one life existance is what causes this we have all the time to gain and expirance everything so... chill da fuck out people if people had this realization we would be content with are current place and let things go there own way and in time all things would be done
Focusing on how it "sounds" is an illusion. Words and labels, at their root, are illusions and misleading. So judging something without personal experience and solely on words isn't a very accurate method. The happiest moments in my whole life come from mediations where my ego is totally balanced and has no effect on me. I'm sure others that meditate can relate. - peace, joy, love, and light
Everything is illusion, especially bliss. I can't relate? Assumptions are an illusion. Bliss is fine and good, perpetual bliss sounds asinine. I would need to kill someone to rid myself of the mundanity, or just as reminder of what I'm missing out on.
I never said you can't relate lol im sure you can if you meditate and know what I'm talking about. You can have your opinion and I have mine. I'm obviously not going to change your mind so I shall let the issue you be now - peace, joy, love, and light
because that's what people tell us to do... the government and shit... we're told to go to school when we're kids, told we have to get jobs and then when we get these jobs our checks get tampered with... we're told what we should and shouldnt say or believe in, take a look at MARIJUANA.... lol that shits a joke. Life would be a lot different if you could just be born and live and die, instead of being born, butt fucked by america, and then die..... some kinda freedom huh?
Why else would we be here but to enjoy what's placed in front of us? Idk man, there's a lot of fun fucking shit to do on this earth, and I wanna do and have it all. Sure, maybe I'm just feeding my ego, but uhhh, why the fuck not?
I like to think, that if you slow your roll, you might actually be able to look up and see where you are going. Want nothing. Give everything you can. Fight for what you need. Peace, and strength.
if bliss was mundane it wouldn't be bliss, feeling mundane is a form of suffering and when experiencing this bliss if one experiences suffering then one is not experiencing bliss.
