G.Cs Strain guide to Training and topped plants

  1. Hope that tittle is what its aimed to be!!!

Since ive been growing ive noticed Differnt strains of plants react differntly to being toopped or trained..

A baisic rule i found is that indicas seem to like it less..They slow down when topped..They will put out atlest 2 main colas but these arent as big as the 1 that has been left alone..Indicas dont seem to respond to traing that well either..

Sativa plants seem to love it...Some when topped put out of new bud sites..They love to being trained too..

Thats only a basic rule which doesnt apply to all plants and with all the crosses and high breeds we have a lot of plants..

So thats where this thread comes in and where we at gc with all our combined knowledge are going to make a list of what we found what strain does what..

    I hope im making sence????

  2. My white rhino which i originally got from nirvana respond very well to being topped or trained..Same goes for myAk99 and C99 from Joey seeds..

Afghans and donkey dicks slow right down after being topped..They dont like being trained much..Thay like to put up 1 main cola..

  3. How do indicas respond to LST and SCROG training?

  4. In general they dont like it..Thats what i have found with the ones ive tried anyway..

  5. So far from the vast amount of strains i have tried the broad leaf strains (Sativas) love to be trained and respond very well to topping / fimming / pruning... they dont seem to care at all, they are just very very strong plants and bounce back from the worst of things very quickly.

So far other than my own strain PPP, Bob Marley's Best and Juicy Fruity Love to be bent over and screwed sideways and cut to pieces :)

White strains such as White Pearl also like LST and fimming but slow down for a couple days if topped (fimming doesnt slow them down).

  6. Oh one thing to remember for any strain your going to top... Always water them VERY well before you do any cutting.. This helps alot, dont go topping a plant thats been wanting water (dry soil).

Also to speed things along, everyone should try and buy some Urea, they sell it at all plant stores.. its complete N source and bursts the plant into growth. So watering with this before you top will speed things along that much faster.

  7. ****Stumbles in*****...are we taliking about the same "Broads"????......****rolls out*****

    HIGH All,

  8. OI..This aint a pub..Its a serious fucking thread..You go stagger somewhere else..lmao..Cant beleave the behavior of mods these days..Bludy drunk stoners have no respect these days.. ;)

  9. the only plant i have topped was a sativa bagseed. Never missed a beat on the growth, the next day it had shot up the 2 tops.

Ive been waiting for this thread to start, good idea tetra. This is the type of thing that is valuable for everyone else here.

  10. yes this is a great thread indeed!

and yet again dierwolf proves his knowledge knows no limits.

  11. I have found that when topping, if you gently open up the top of the plant and cut the newest growth (instead of just lopping off the stem farther down), growth is not slowed much, if at all.

Easiest strain I have grown and topped was Top44, but have successfully topped White Widow and AK47 X Soma #10 as well.

Basically anything that has prolific secondary growth should respond well to topping/training.

  12. HIGH All, hey dude I was serious (well sort of).....never heard of a broad leaf Sativa...have you.

  13. lol ok unoit, you made your point..

And yes Fencewalker you should cut the very very new emerging growth, not like how i see some here doing it cutting it below the first set of new big leafs.

  14. what about northern lights? anyone got info on it, relating to LST or ScrOG?

  15. Ya right at that,i topped my white rhino and got 2 fat as can be colas.
They never slowed down from the trim...i think they like it alot...

Northern lights x haze will be my next strain to try out as goes with C99 from what tetra said im all 4 it...

    Take care guys...

  16. Dutch Passion Feminised Power Plant handled multiple toppings, fimmings and scrog without any growth problems.

    nice thread!

  17. bump... NL anyone?

  18. personaly im quite fond of the big bud strain in a scrog setup i top the shit out of it before it hits the screen and it does nothing but go fucking crazy all over... I thought it would shock it but i cant believe how vigorous it gets after about 24hrs from topping but that is in a bubbler setup, my soil ladys slow down for a good two days but i dont usually top them as much cause i like the fatty colas!!

  19. Can't believe this thread died so quickly.. Bump!!

  20. lol didn't even realize it was from 4 years ago! I have a bunch of NL right now, and some NL X Big Bud. I have LST'ed them all. They all love it, and grow rapidly.
