Fungus gnats?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by scuterkkid, Feb 18, 2016.

  1. How do I take care of fungus gnat larva in soil? I have a recirculating drip system and the medium I used to grow was peat moss soil.

You can do all or one of these tactics:

    • Disturb the top 1/2 in of soil and make sure it dries out well.
    • Cover the top of your soil with a 1/2 in of sand for about two weeks.
    • Dust the soil and bottom of you plants with diatomaceous earth.

  3. Always had my gnat problems occurring at the bottom of the plot where the water drains. Once I started watering with no runoff they went away pretty much immediately. If you go this way, however, I recommend a full flush at 3 and 6 weeks just to keep things clean.

    Good luck.
