A Gnatrol drench done 3 times every third day will kill the larvae and yellow stickies will get rid of the adult flyers. Works every time.
I'm going back and fourth on if a neem/kelp watering would help or just cause more gnats Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Gnatrol is BTI (bacillus thuringiensis israelensis), a biological larvicide that is used in horse troughs to kill mosquito larva without any danger to the horses. It only kills larva. Mosquito Dunks and Bits are the same thing but not as concentrated, and not as effective.
There's also predatory nematodes. They are live microscopic worms that just destroy the fungus gnat larva. Here's what there do - it's worth the watch... Here's how to use them:
I just watched this this mornin hah thank you. Do you know if I can foilar azamax tonight if I water in the nematodes today? Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I was thinking about top dressing w a small amount of neem and kelp and watering in nematodes today and putting down some gnat nix and foilar spraying azamax tonight. I also was thinking of putting down some mosquito dunks or bits tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Also do you know if mosquito dunks would hurt the nematodes? Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
On those mosquitoes dunks it says insecticidal toxins with an asterisk. What is in those. Sounds a little risky too me.
If you google mosquito dunks ingredients it says that it's deadly to larvae and harmless to all other living things.
In #43 mickfoster said the scientific name but bacteria called BTI. Sent from my SM-G930V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
put some dowm; my babies are looking better every day, now i can worry about some sticky pads. thanks for the help
No there are actual insecticidal Toxins not just bacteria if you read the label. No where on there does it say safe for food grade crops. Probably won't pass pesticide test in a lab.
If it's just the natural bacteria that's great. But saying insecticidal toxins adds some mystery of what those actually are. Are they natural too? Or added for increased performance? May be fine but I want each chemical stated just too be sure.
You have a choice - if you don't want to use, then don't. I attached a link to the EPA if you're interested. www.epa.gov/mosquitocontrol/bti-mosquito-control
