Full body workout with just Dumbbells?

  1. Anyone have the U90 Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells.

I was thinking about getting a pair for a hefty $400. They are expandable to 120 lbs each and have a Lifetime Warranty. I wanted something for my apartment. Don't have room for large equipment.

Can I get a full body workout with just dumbbells you think?

  2. dumbbells are really versatile. my advice would be join a gym so you have a wider range of equipment but ill work with you on this.

    YES. to answer your question

you can do Snatches which is similar to a power clean with a barbell and plates.

also you can hold them and do squats

    Standing calve raises (calves obvi)
    Curls
    tricep extensions
    bent over row (back)
    lateral raises (shoulders)
presses (incline decline flat) might need a bench.
    shrugs
    farmer walks
    shoulder press
    wrist curls

i could go on forever so yeah you can pretty much work everything
with dumbbells, theres probably even i couple things to do for abs
with dumbbells that i dont know about.

  3. You can definitely get a full body workout with dumbbells. Get a pullup bar and a collapsible dip stand and you'll have everything you need without taking up much space. Weighted chins and weighted dips using the dumbbells will get you jacked on their own, so when you add all the other exercises you can do with dumbbells, you're set. Just make sure the dumbbells have good reviews- I know some of the adjustable dumbbells have shitty locking mechanisms and ruin floors and feet.

  4. Look at it this way, a 1-year gym membership will run you about $400 plus gas and will have to be renewed if you haven't met your goals or wish to just keep going. Those weights are adjustable and you could definitely get a full body workout and will last as long as you keep them, only downside would be outgrowing them but 120lb each seems like you would be able to progress for a few years before that happens which is more cost-effective than a 1-year gym membership.

    Go for it :smoke:

  5. Thanks for the tips everyone!

I'm most likely going to pick them up. I don't know how many times I've come home from work or wherever, even the bar, and just felt like lifting but didn't want to get everything together and drive to the gym.

I'll probably also get a bench, too.

  6. I do agree, even though i go to the gym :confused_2:

Bench dumbbells and Pull up bar set!

  7. dumbbells and push ups would be great, not too sure on "full body" workout with just dumbbells but they are very effective in building muscle, 400 dollars sounds excessive are they dipped in 24k gold? lol

    Shoulders- Front raises (front deltoid)
    Lateral raises (lateral deltoid head)
Reverse shoulder flies (rear deltoid head)
Military press will work your front and lateral head, so be sure to include rear delt movements

Chest- Incline, flat, or decline press (bench is required) works upper, middle and lower, and entire pec( in that order)
    Dumbell flies

    Triceps- Close grip press
    Tricep extensions
Pushups are good for triceps too

    Biceps- Curls
    Hammer curls
    Concentration curls

    Forearms- Wrist curls
    Reverse wrist curls

    Traps- Dumbell shrugs
    Back- Bent over rows
    Dumbell deadlift

    Legs- Dumbell squats
    Lunges
    Calf raises

Ab workouts don't really need weights unless you're a boss

Don't forget that triceps and chest are used while doing pressing movements, and biceps and back are used while doing pulling movements

  9. It's because they are adjustable. I was wondering the same thing myself so I searched for adjustable dumbbells that go up to 120 pounds and I didn't find anything under 320 bucks. Hopefully they're also that much because of the quality (the $320 ones got bitched at a lot in the reviews).

  10. The gym I go to is only 10/mo so buying those wouldn't really make much sense to me, but you can definitely get a comprehensive workout via dumbbells. I prefer dumbbell presses to the barbell because the stabilization required to move each weight in tandem makes the exercise much more difficult.
