Well I got busted a few months ago and part of my punishment was to pay one of my paychecks to a anti-drug association. I agreed to it because it is better then the other things they could have done (take car, kick out of house, ect...). Now it is time for me to pay and I do not want to give $200 bucks to something I don't belive in (they are mainly interested in anti-marijuana). I dunno what to do say fuck them or pay up. I rather try and convince them to donate to NORML but I don't think that will happen. So tell me what I should do.
Give the money to freevibe so they can use it to make more funny commercials. That way more kids can see through the governments lies.
I voted 'Don't Pay' That is pure bullshit. Had they asked you to stop smoking while at their house, that's acceptable. It's their house. However, the second they request for you to donate towards an entity which you do not share common beliefs with is asking you to do more then pay. It's asking you to give up your dignity and your self-respect. The second you pay, the second you lower your beliefs is the second you die inside. I make a very big commotion about being who I am, and standing by what I believe. I heard a story, I don't know if it is true, but it's how I live my lives. The story states that the gunmen in the shooting at Columbine first asked for all the Christians to stand up. Anyone who stood up was the shot and that's how the massacre began. I don't know if that's true, but the friend who told me this made a comment that changed my life. "If you were facing death, would you stand up for what you believe?" We were discussing religion at the time, however, I utilize this thought philosphy in all aspects of life. I came to the conclusion that yes, all beliefs I hold, I will stand up in the face of death for. It may not be that extreme, but it's an example. So, where I am heading with this is, what happens when you push away your beliefs for this situation? What type of person will you become? In my opinion, you'll become someone who will instantly drop their beliefs for a short-term solution. Now, I know for some people this is easier said than done, and thank god with my parents I don't need to practice it. But understand where I'm coming from. Asking you to stop smoking/stop storing marijuana in their house is a completely understand and highly reasonable request. But the second you sell away your beliefs, your parents are asking way more and I would not hesitate in stating that that is a poor punishment tactic used by your parents...
This is the way I feel that I am giving into something that I do not belive in and that is why I started this thread. I wanna no stand up and face more shit or give in. The suck at punishing, so it is hard for them to think of things.
I say it's time for a serious talk. Work some compromises. Let them understand that it's an unreasobable request, and if they had any other more reasonable requests you'd consider them, or maybe it's time you start looking to move out? Might I suggest not bunking with friend, find a roomie through an ad or something because they're already established and your transition won't be so difficult.

I would try and sit your parents down and try to explain to them the severe hypocrisy of anti drug organizations, especially the ones (or is it all of them?) that only seem to focus on marijuana. For example, a lot of their funding comes from alcohol, tobbaco, and pharmaceutical companies. I would not be so opposed to paying money towards an organization, as long as it wasn't so hypocritical, and decptive, and in my opinion, criminal.
Pay up. Have some respect. They are trying to teach you a lesson; one day you will thank them for this. Trust. It's their house, so it's their rules. There is nothing at all unreasonable about this. I think the messgae they are trying to send is quite right on.
you have to ask yourself whether you having that place to stay and your car is worth giving up just to keep a couple hundred bucks. you may have principles but youve also got basic reasoning. id pay the money to get them off my back and play along. youll be back to enjoying our favorite green plant in no time as well as have your car and place to stay
try finding a group that deals with major drugs like crack or something, or see if you could give it to a more deserving cause such as cancer
This is what I think I will do. Can people find me groups that focus on crack,meth, or anything else that isn't green. I don't mind donating to those groups because I have no feelings for those drugs.

i think you should man up and pay.... you said you would, if you had objections, you shoulda raised them earlier, when you AGREED to do it... sounds like you just wanted to take the lesser punishment, and now thats the piper's come calling, your trying to puss out... i agree it sucks, but don't commit to it if you weren't ready to follow through...
fuck that dont pay. give the money to people starving, give money towards cancer research, give money to something that you can be proud of that helps SAVE PEOPLES LIVES! think about that, u can either help fund an organization that will slow down our societies progress or donate to one that will contribute, if your parents dont understand that and would rather u donate to a fucking retarded anti pot group, then im sorry but thats really ignorant. tell them that. ask them would they rather u give money to save real peoples lives, people that cant afford money or people that have a disease, or give money to a group that isnt even gonna succeed in their goal, and if they did, its a useless one anyways. just my 2cents
