Frost in 3 weeks! Need advise.

  1. Ok I've been on here and asked a million questions already but here's a few more lol.
My main concern is the frost issue, I checked tday and its suppose to frost now in 3 weeks. I have no idea how far she's got until harvest so could you please verify that she could possibly be finished in 3-4 weeks. And also, what's up with all the purple stems?

  2. First off the purple stems are due to a calcium deficiency. And when it will finish is determined by the strain and when it went into flowering

  3. ^^ i heard that purple stems are a result of cold weather but nothing to worry about

  4. Ok. i think what I am trying to ask is will the bud be even worth smoking in 3 to 4 weeks. They have been flowering for almost 4 weeks. And I don't know the strain. Jus Kentucky bluegrass is what the old man calls it. It's chronic tho.

  5. First off, learn your shit before giving advise on this forum. The purpling is from low temps/ nitrogen def. but she looks really healthy so it's probably just a little cold at night. Goodluck op!

it's the strain that turns the stem purple too, frost gets the leaves not the stem, my buddies plants are kicking ass and it's frosted once already, plants can take around 3 frosts but it depends how hardy your plant is too

and yes in 4 weeks they will be doneish but again they can survive a few frost, not rot, but something like bloombastic on it, it will make them finish faster and plump them up

  7. It's both cold weather and genetics. I have had many strains like that. Depending on your genetics. Frost may not hurt the plant, maybe make it more purple or a darker shade than what u have. if you are very worried then watch the nightly weather forecasts and you may have to try and cover them. It'll buy you potentially a couple more weeks. Good luck

  8. Mine gets purple stems on the fan leaves when I stress her.

    Really meow...
I've always heard it was either low temps. genetics. or phosphorus deficiancy

Edit: OP, dont worry about the frost. Just harvest her whenever she looks ready, they're very tough plants and can withstand frost/cold temps without much damage.

  10. Stems purple for a lot of reasons. ;) No need to try and prove me wrong. How am i to know? I didn't grow this plant, i barely got any info on it aswell. but to me it looks healthy so i doubt it's a deficiency. Prob just gettin chilly.

  11. dont worry about the purple stems, my ladies have them to. both totally different strains and have the same excate purpling but it does not harm them its natural actually. and fyi you gotta let those babies go they still got growing time

  12. Not trying to prove you wrong, i actually meant to put a question mark on the end of that sentence because i thought i may have been wrong about the link between phosphorus deficiancy and purpling.

  13. I Grew quite a large outdoor crop this year and all of mine have withstood 3 heavy frosts thus far & counting. Its a super resilient plant, you should have no issues. Just check them regularly and if they show signs of dieing, catch it before it molds and harvest.

  14. i was about to ask about frost, glad i searched. it frosted last night for the fourth time, kills me to see my garden go little by little. i covered my n. lights as they are about 5' but the durban is 7' now and still headed up. i put in some tall stakes i can toss comforters over after work tonight as i have been doing for my tomatoes. this happens every year, a frost kills off my stuff and then it gets hot again. i am growing smaller plants from now on. it is obvious now that the first thing to go are the peppers and eggplant, then the tomatoes, morning glories, beans all about the same time as the celery and lettuce hangs tough but the mj is kind of hanging down (uncovered) from the frost and the cover isn't very good for it either. the nl is sooo close. the buds are filling in and looking so good. you can get up just before dawn and check the temp, if it is close turn on the sprinkler or put it on a timer. also water quite a bit in the afternoon. the damp soil can hold much more warmth for the night and the humidity lowers the dew point so it needs to be colder to get frost. definitely a race, good luck. j
