So im finally biting bullet and purchasing my first home and the place has a whole basement i plan to utilize strictly for growing purposes, as the title says im currently set up in a 2nd bedroom at my place now so dont know what is possible in such a bigger space and was hoping to get some input and ideas from some folks that may also have similiar size space to utilize and how they utilize the space, any input would be greatly appreciated thanks ladies and gentleman.
Congratulations on buying your own home! King in your own castle, and all that. This is just my 2 cents worth, but for what it's worth... It's really going to depend a lot on the micro-climate in your basement. I went through hell in my first grow trying to balance heat and humidity issues, until I discovered that hanging panda film all around my tent and leaving the tent openings partially open at night resulted in temps that never went below 65 f or above 72 f, and humidity that never went above 60% but mostly stayed around 30-50%. My energy use dropped by more than half too, as my dehumidifier and air conditioning weren't constantly working. Having said that, I know that my setup would be useless in a hot, humid climate like say, Louisiana or Georgia. It's just what works for my microclimate. Ventilation may be an issue. And if ventilation is a problem, humidity will likely be a problem too... or not. It all depends on your particular environment. My best advice is to set up as you did before, and then modify stuff as issues become apparent.
Hell yea and all that jazz haha thanks man i appreciate it, also appreciate the info it was insightful, ill def look into the climate before moving any plants down there, theres the begining of a door frame they started building down there and thats where the building on it ended, i was thinking about finishing it off having 2 seperate rooms for veg and flower
Here in the southwest hardly anyone has a basement so I'm envious, I've grown in three basements over the years. If you don't have plenty of ventilation keep an eye out for humidity problems. One house had a wood floor above the room in the basement where I was growing and the high humidity in the basement cupped the floor above.
Thank you thats really good to know, this basement actually has a door that goes out to the back yard so im hoping that will solve any ventilation issues that there may be
