Friends get a non smoking GF and stop hanging with you...

Discussion in 'Sex, Love & Relationships' started by JustAnotherToker, Oct 8, 2013.

  1. So far during the last 17 years (the years I smoke) I've had at least 3 very good friends, we were hanging out almost every day (or if not hanging out talking on the phone at least) and mostly toking together and having a lot of fun doing so, they all loved MJ a lot and then they all suddenly found a girlfiriend that doesn't smoke and that has a very bad opinion on weed and suddenly they completely forget I exist, they don't call anymore they don't want to hang out...

I also have a girlfriend and we are together for 14 years now and we both smoke (she smokes a lot less the last 4 years since we had a kid but still does occasionally) and we were always hanging out with these friends.

And it's not that these people act like that in the "honeymoon" phase but I almost lost all contacts with them or I see them every 3 months for 10 min. And all of these friends are people I had a LOT in common with, a lot of shared interests not just weed but we could literally talk for hours without getting bored.

Did anyone have something like that happen to him/her?

  2. I think I'm going through that process right now; its kinda rough though.

Yes it really sucks, at first I have no idea wtf is wrong, did I do something to upset them? Is it my fault but ultimately I got to the conclusion they don't want to hang with me cause I toke and their girlfriend doesn't...

That's why I made this topic as I wanted to see if it's only me or it happens to others as well

  4. I was one of those guys once. My love for MJ was stronger though, I don't think I could date a non toking chick now.

  5. Another thing to consider is -  It could be that they are just trying to form a companionship with their new chosen mate?  Its very natural.  You have an established relationship where they have a brand new one.  Maybe it will get better over time, as they get more comfortable with their new friends meeting their old friends.

Life is a dance.. you must keep moving.. or you get pushed off the dance floor, then you just watch your friends dance..

    I am really high.

1 in every 8 women will develop breast cancer during their lives. (As a woman, I HATE those odds!) Show the non-toking GFs these as a way to lower their cancer risk!

It doesn't get better over time, 1 of these friends was my best childhood friend and we saw each other like 5 times in the lst 10 years and another one I see every 3 month for like 10 min... and with the last friend I was hanging out almost every day for the last 4 years and we were talking about everything, I didn't see him ONCE in the last month and a half since he got a GF. It happened over night 1 day we were happy talking on the beach and the next he doesn't call, doesn't want to get together etc.
When I confronted him about why he doesn't call I asked what his GF opinion on weed was and he said she hates it.. at that point all was clear :(

  8. I will spread the word, breasts need to be preserved.

That sucks dude.  Some guys just can't say no to a girl.  Its weak, but lots of men aren't strong enough to say no.  Maybe they fear losing another person, maybe they just fear getting no physical affection if the woman's interests aren't satisfied.  Honestly there are so many possibilities.  Instead of worrying about what caused it maybe it would be better to just do something fun yourself, and don't bother with any of them until they decide to reach you.

Some of my best memories have been with people I don't even speak to (let alone know whats up with them).  People just move on and do their own thing.  It sucks.  I have been on the receiving end of that abandonment.  But once I realized everyone in life is going to do what is best for them, it doesn't hurt so much.

Best of luck to you bud..

  10. My best friend was like that for a long time i knew him for 3 years at the time but were like brothers he got a gf that was against weed id hit him up just to hang nd he would always have an excuses to why he couldn't hang i havnt had concact since. I know it sucks but you just linda move on youll find new ppl

Thanks for this list, I already started sending these links around and posting on newsgroups and other forums! Spread the word people!

  12. I've had this happen as well and it's so stupid that they do this. I think it's because they feel like they need to not smoke because they're whipped, hah.

  13. I'd like to add something to this topic I just found out...

I met with a friend a few days ago and he is a common friend with me and this friend that this topic was started for.

Anyway he told me that the guy that found the non smoking GF was telling him how I'm an addict and that I can't live without weed. This coming from a person I smoked with every day and that was actually supplying the weed as HE had the connection, on top of that the last time we met we smoked together HIS weed.

Seriously how can someone smoke with another person every day (and I KNOW he smoked alone every day when we weren't together) then go around telling people you are an addict... tbh after finding this out I 'm not sure I want to stay friend with this person anymore and if I confront him about it he will know who told me and the person that told me asked me not to tell him he told me... what a stupid situation.

Just for the record I'm a very big addict that is dry for the last 2 months since I stopped hanging out with this "friend" and I'm somehow still alive :p
