Fresh weight Vs. Dry weight?

Discussion in 'Harvesting and Processing Marijuana' started by cloudsofganja, Jul 11, 2017.

  1. So I'm harvesting next Monday. Plant looks to be holding a few ounces but I know that will look different dried. Let's just say I got 100gs of fresh flower; how much would I have once all is said and done? I understand density and such but just an estimate of your experiences.

  2. From my experience I guess I'd say 75% weight loss

  4. yeah depends on a lot of things but I would expect at least 2/3's loss

  6. can you post some bud shots? lol

  7. So if u pulled a 100 grams wet dry would be like a ounce ounce and half no more than 2 ounces

  8. Why do people even weigh wet bud? Properly dried bud looses about 3/4 of its weight

  9. Yeah here ya go
And I don't know how the weight thing works with fresh nugs. I can't eyeball them like normal bud obviously so like these kolas that look like they're between 5-7 grams ( what they look like compared to dried bud) are actually probably well over 10 or more and will dry down to what they look like they should be?
Ugh I'm trying to word this right without it being confusing.

  10. I didn't know people actually do regularly. Just an example to get an idea. But one reason would be to get an estimate of what their dried weight should be I suppose.

  11. lol uh.

anyways your plant looks amazing! was it all done under the cfls?

  12. Uh? Lol

    Thanks goo
    Uh? Lol

    Thanks my dude.
And yeah the whole way was cfl.
I had trouble in the beginning with really slow vegging due to being a newb and ripping a good chunk of the root ball out when transplanting, but she made it just fine I'd say.:love-m3j:

  13. I've between waiting for my trichomes to start turning amber... your pic are the best I've seen showing that now i know what to look for... thanks

  14. More light will get you more weight and quicker veg.
    You're lacking lumens buddy.

I would also pull those asap.
Anything past this and the trichomes will degrade.

  15. Wet weight divided by 4 will give you a fair approximation of the dry weight. Then subtract a bit for the stems.

    Granny

  16. What’s your thoughts on how many amber trichomes is most desired?

    And why is that?

  17. 40 grams dry to every 100 grams wet is usually pretty accurate

  18. This is a preference thing, but usually 15 to 20 percent amber throughout will equal great potency plus a smooth smoke and longer lasting high. Little to no amber will be a quick head change/rush that will sometimes end in a bad headache. Too long and you're looking at couch lock.............kind of a zombie state.

  19. Yours looks ready for harvest
