I'm transplanting from 1 gal to 5 gal of fresh FFOF . 21days veg, should I be worried about watering with a light solution of bat guano, seabird guano and seaweed extract? Might it be too hot since the FFOF is fresh? Any and all comments are welcome.

    Hello Green,

If you are transplanting into fresh soil just moisten the soil with plain H2O. Do not transplant and feed at the same time. Give your plants a week or 2 and see how they react to the soil. If after acclimating themselves to new soil they are telling you they are hungry then feed them.

When transplanting I myself will not do anything else to my plants. When you do to many things at one time to a plant it can stress it. The other issue is if you are doing multiple things at one time to your plant and something goes wrong it makes it harder to know what effected your plants. Lastly when doing multiple actions to a plant if you are trying to fix an issue you will not know which action you took that rectified the problem.

This is the way I do things in my garden, you may have someone come along and tell you to feed away, but this is what works best for me.

  3. Apparently I need to spread some before I rep you again, but it's coming.

Good links and advice as usual, MGB.

  4. I never fed just watered with liquid karma or something with humic acid to help break down the nutes

  5. Hi MGB, I appreciate the reply. I will not be feeding anything, as you suggested. I came to a similar conclusion, too many variables and the results get muddled. Thanks for the organic links! I'm soaking up as much info as possible. Ultimately I strive for a soil mix that will be water only. My compost pile along with my vermipost tub should get me close someday.

  6. It was my pleasure. If I can be of any assistance in helping you build a water only soil or just organic growing in general feel free in contacting me. There is a wealth of knowledge here in these threads. You just need the time to check them out. I have probably 20 links I keep on hand that I recommend new organic gardeners read. I just gave you a few to get you started. I did not want to bombard you and scare you off thinking organic gardening is harder than it actually is.

I will leave you with just one tid bit of info about water only soils. IMHO the most important thing for folks new to building soil is getting their soil dialed in. You need to get a happy medium where you won't burn light feeders. With heavy feeders you can supplement with FPE's, Top dressing, Fish Hydrolysate, ETC.

    Welcome to organics!:yay:

  7. Hey MGB! I don't know how I missed your last post, but thanks for the welcome. I'm spending much time reading and the more I ingest, the more organics excites me. Not only for my indoor garden, but for my outdoor vegetable garden as well.

I'm very interested in AACT, do you have much knowledge on this subject?
