  1. I recently started to write ryhmes(past few weeks). I've almost become obsessed with it :D but what i was thinking was taking it to the next level. I was wondering if you guys had any tips on rapping some of my shit. Plus i would also really like to try some freestyling. I'm basically looking for some good beginner instrumentals and some tips. Thanks guys :smoking:

  2. study up on rhyme schemes, for example bone thugs and young jeezy have different schemes, figure out what you can pull off the best, and go from there. also just start writing a bunch of punchlines without the rhymes to support it, then go back later when you think of something sick and add it to the punchline

  3. Thanks. Aparently not too many people freestyle here... or they're just lazy

  4. Just go with the flow, that's why it's called a freestyle. Hit em with the rhythm

  5. freestylin is fun as hell...

    lol its 420...

  6. What Schizo-Manic said, its all about practicing, been freestyling for a couple of years now, you'll get into, try it on your own first like in the shower etc, then when you start getting good, around friends and whatever... it gets addictive though, start thinking of a quick punchlines during filler lines, its easier to do than just lining uppunchline after punchline, only the pros do that. Rapping about items around you definately improves your skill even if it is lame. Just stick at it! Good Luck!

  7. true indeed, use your surroundings.. you gotta teach yourself how to think without thinking too hard.. write, write, write everyday it helps!!! What I used to do was read the NY Times in rhyme form..

  8. Having a large vocabulary helps me.

I also listen to a ton of rap music; I usually relive certain experiences in my mind (first time on shrooms, great sex, good weed etc) and exaggerate them so people listening/reading can relate.

Nas I am not, but it takes time, there are some wicked battle threads on GC you should read.

  9. Discover your style, build your vocabulary, make sense, practice, and be passionate about it. Don't be afraid to yell your shit. Don't be all quiet and what not unless that's your style.

  10. there's an episode of mtv's "Made" where a white jewish kid wants to learn how to freestyle. his "coach" told him to work on it every day, try and freestyle about everything you see.

freestyle in your head if you can't (or are too shy) do it outloud.

  11. Thanks guys this I awesome. I'm definitely gonna check out some of the videos your recommending.

  12. So I watched that movie. Didn't really help haha but it was interesting to watch. Thanks anyway!

  13. You dont need Tips bro, you need Flow. That's it, make your shit a lil intelligent too.

Hit me up in the battle thread and ill tell ya how you are;)

  14. ya yo same i started rhyming last week. I try to freestyle but i keep on stumbeling and i cant think of what to say next. Plus i really cant find a flow, like i keep on getting out of flow to many words or like too little or none. i need help to find a flow, plus i am on a t break so like im not smoking for like a month and like i feel it would make it better i just cant find my flow.

  15. Search youtube for Freestyle 101.
Del the funkly homosapiens pretty good, he says its like playin sega games, you gotta learn the patterns and codes first. Sometimes when new people start they do end up doing things people have never seen before and shit, lol. Thats a way of explaining it..

  16. Well ive thrown some shit out in the rap battles. It kinda sucks that you can't hear the rythm or style these people spit.. it makes it hard to know if theyre any good or not. Constructive critisism is welcomed!
