Freedom of speech.

  1. Is true freedom of speech something that should be allowed?

Sure, I can talk about poop. Or whatever. But that also means racist skin head fucks can spew their nonsense. And people like the Westboro baptist church can do the same.

Sometimes I wonder if the trade off is worth it.

  2. Either everyone has all freedom of speech or no one has freedom of speech.

Limitations can only be for very specific situations, like it should be illegal to yell Fire! in a crowded theater, or to directly incite violence.

Otherwise, government hands off of it. It is the 1st amendment for a reason, and a very easy way for a party or politician to distinguish itself as the enemy, is to start restricting it.

  3. The way I see it is you can say anything you want that means how you feel who you hate why you hate them etc and I will stand up and let you say it I may not agree with it or like it but I can't stop you from saying it one of the biggest things we need to learn as a country is words don't hurt say there is a nazi on the street corner saying he hates Jews or gays or whatever he isn't doing anything wrong as long as he isn't physically hurting anyone no one has any right to stop him you can sit there and argue with him all you want but if you force him to stop you are the problem. Now if he is standing on the street corner and he beats up every one he sees that's a certain ethnicity or whatever then that is a problem. Moral of the story is words don't hurt we need to stop being giant pussies in this country. I may not agree with your opinion on something but I will fight to my death for your right to have that opinion and voice it because this is America.

  4. We don't have the freedom to express ourselves in every situation, like if someone on Grasscity wanted to talk about prohibited items then they don't have the freedom to do it here.

  6. Free speech is not free. Just make a verbal threat on the presidents life, and see how fast the secret service censors your ass.

  7. even if it stands to reason that some things should be prevented from saying (it doesn't), the last entity that should be in charge of determining prohibited speech is the government.

  8. Always. To us it's spewish nonsense, to them it's "the truth".

And my beliefs are probably bullshit in their eyes. But we can't take it away from them, because they have the basic human right to speak whatevers on there mind.

  9. That is about a stupid question if you ask me. Do you actually want to live in a nation where we have had free speech since it's inception and now, all of a sudden, let some liberal retard convince you that it's a bad thing? I know they don't teach much actual history or, God forbid, patriotism in school any longer....which is a huge part of the problem with the "millennials" today. They don't have a clue. I suggest you sit down and study up on the importance of that free speech you seem to question the need for and do some serious thinking about what life would be like without it. You better stand up and fight for you free speech with all your strength. You come within the blink of an eye of losing every freedom the constitution grants us...had the Hildabeast won the election. Your rights and freedoms are what make America the place that all the complainers want to live. Why is that? FREEDOM. Plain and simple. Stand up for yours and don't let anybody convince you that you are wrong for demanding it either. TWW

  10. As Ed stated; You don't have that freedom here and it's for a very simple reason. You are a guest here of the host (Superjoint).

It is the same as going to your parents house and demanding they let you shout things that annoy or bother them. At anytime they can remove your welcome.

  12. It also means far leftist air-heads can spout their anti-fascist (but in reality actually ultra fascist) nonsense about how all straight white males are the biggest problem in the world. Take note that I am a bisexual moderate liberal so don't take what I am saying the wrong way. These things work both ways, you can't stop "racist skinhead fucks" from "spewing their nonsense" and then have the far left turn around and call for the death of every cop and politician and say it is okay. Again, I really dislike cops and politicians but I'm also not irrational.

Anyways my point is that when you start censoring free speech you will end up with much larger problems because when an ideology goes from merely taboo to forbidden it will ultimately appeal to more people. Look at Germany lately, their free speech laws are getting out of hand and they ban and censor anything that doesn't fit their "progressive" agenda. That recently backfired when two bands got kicked off a black metal festival for, at one point in time, playing a show with a band that was rumored (not even confirmed) to have Nazi beliefs. The thing is that both bands were very left leaning bands who had even played antifa benefits. It is getting to the point where the far left-is attacking its own kind for redundant reasons, this is what I call political cannibalism.

  13. Freedom of speech must be allowed as it is in the Bill of Rights. We must allow and protect speech that offends us the most, becuase what offends one person is normal to another. You can say anything in public you want unless it calls directly for violence, or puts peoples lives at immediate risk like yelling fire in a crowded theater. Besides those few exceptions, becuase someone says hateful things to certain people, we cannot stop those words legally. That is not to say that if someone calls someone a bunch of racial slurs in public that the person saying them might not get beaten to a pulp or even killed for it, but by other people, no government agents or something. Also if free speech were to be curtailed as hate speech or something, then who is it that decides who can say what and why...You would see political parties banning speech from the opposite party while they were in power, and then the other party gets in power and has their opponents arrested for hate speech or some nonsense. Either everyone has the right to say things except for a few exceptions like it always has been, or no one has the right to say anything without fear of reprisal by the speech police. Everyone has the right to say stupid shit all they want, it is the American way...lol..and many people died so we can be dicks to each other if we want to, not to bow to some college professors opinions on who can say what, and so on...

  14. There should be no restraint on free speech, even shit you're too soft to hear. Stop being so sensitive to words. Everyone has the right to say the most deprived shit as long as it doesn't directly call for violence.

  16. they don't sensor your ass, but they will absolutely investigate it. and they should. No one said you can't say that shit, or any shit for that matter, but to think there aren't going to be consequences, well thats what is really dumb.

  17. I understand what you are saying. However when my 'rights' for free speech also means crazy people can say what they want...

All I'm trying to say is that can't we all agree that hate groups like the KKK or WBB are wrong and should not be allowed to talk like that ?

I just don't comprehend why we all allow it to happen.

Ooh...that's right. We allow it to happen because...it's our rights? Well ya know what? Maybe we should change the definition of free speech. We can say anything we want, except when talking pure hate. I am only talking extremes here. Cases where everyone can agree on

  18. I for one, gives no fucks if the freedom of speech is taken away from crazy ass hateful people who don't give two shits about me, OR YOU!

  19. I just feel like that reasoning is weak. Now, by no means am I saying that what you said reflects on the type of person you are! I think most of us are brainwashed into believing that in order for freedom of speech to be TRUE freedom of speech, the crazies must also have their say...

Like for real y'all. The WBB...smfh. Them teaching their kids to act and talk and believe that trash. It's a shame and should not have been allowed!
