  5. I never really "got" Zappa's music. I just don't find him interesting, which is odd because I like Captain Beefheart.

  6. YES...one of the most underrated musicians of his era. I'd say my favorite album was One Size Fits All back when he was with the Mothers.

  7. I wouldn't say he's 'underrated'...I always run into people who think he's better than God.
He's got some good stuff out there, Joe's Garage, Freak Out!, Overnight sensation (where most people start out) Etc. I mainly like his weird little 2 minute numbers with found sound.

Got a live Halloween version of Camarillo Brillo that's good. Very fast and funny.
    Madda fact, here t'is:

A weird version of a classic.

  8. necessity is the mother(s) of invention

  9. It seems like the people that like him LOVE him, myself included, but it's not like he gets a ton of airplay on classic rock stations like the other greats of his era.

But then again, he died when I was a kid, so idk what it was like back in the day when he was cranking out an album a year.

  10. True enough.

  11. You're probably wondering why I'm here!

    Zappa was a blast!

  12. I loved Freak Out!, awesome album.

I can't beleive no ones mentioned, don't eat the yellow snow, titties and beer, crew slut, and if you havent listened to the 2cd Thing-Fish album, you'll love it.

    Help I'm A Rock!

  13. Anyone here seen, "the Freak Out List?"

  14. Titties and Beer is one of my all-time favorites. I would kill to have see it live.

In general, his lyrics seem juvenile and redundant to me. Titties n Beer is a perfect example. They rarely add to the intellectual status some die hard fans hold him to...at least in my humble opinion. He's better as just a goof doin weird shit.

  16. You clearly haven't read between the lines with his music, he may seem to be simply looking for laughs with his music but there is something more there. His music was very satyrical at times, both politically and of life in general. He was also musically talented in ways that I've never seen before him, take the time to really listen to his stuff, you'll like it.
