France Opens UFO Files

  1. Click Here for a Yahoo news article on the subject.

Click Here to read the interview with Jacques Patenet, the head of GEIPAN and CNES.

CNES - Google Translation (Click Here if you can read French. If anyone can find an English version of that site, please post it!)

It seems like the French have nothing to hide... Let us hope the rest of the world follows suit! lol

  2. Are we forgetting that there really isn't any evidence of anything in those files. To the best of my recollection, the strongest case represented in all those pages, are of two pre-teens who saw "something" and then ran home to mommy and poppy to tell about it. After some investigation they found some charred patch of land roughly where the kids claimed their experience.

Jumping to conclusions is one thing, but really now...

And don't get me wrong, I'd be the first to welcome some hard evidence of extra-terrestial visits. I think that would be just fantastic. It would be the event of all history. Just thinking of how much intelligent species must exist out there, just makes me want some of them to discover and visit us even more pressing. I think such an event would make us forget our own petty little differences and disputes, and focus on what is really important, that we are one species regardless of other factors.

  3. lol, two of my female cousins (sisters) once claimed to have seen a UFO. It kept getting closer to them and they thought it was following them, so they ran inside and were totally freaked out. Days later and after they told me this story I went outside to have a smoke and they came out as well, looking up at the sky they pointed out their UFO! It happened to be Jupiter, but hey, for awhile there Jupiter was stalking my cousins... ;)

I am also not forgetting anything, since I made no claim whatsoever about UFOs... I simply posted that France opened up all their UFO files, provided links, and expressed my hope that the rest of the world would follow suit.

  4. I really like Sagan's approach to E.T. Life

  5. Sagan was (and still is) the man. He had such a great attitude toward life and could instill such a sense of wonder through scientific discovery...ahem...back to the topic on hand lol...

  6. Not to mention he was a pot smoker :)

  7. Really? Wow. It would seem that most forward thinkers of this age have smoked/still smoke pot or dabbled in psychedelics. I see some scientists and thinkers who don't directly make any comments on it, but they still give it away :smoking:

Haven't checked out the UFO links yet but I'd be glad if they did exist, would make for an interesting plot twist in human history.

"I can remember one occasion, taking a shower with my wife while high, in which I had an idea on the origins and invalidities of racism in terms of gaussian distribution curves, I wrote the curves in soap on the shower wall, and went to write the idea down."

  9. hey man, look at aldous huxley...he dabbled in acid and other psychoactives, and he wrote the amazing "Brave new world." even george orwell...and the ever amazing zen philosopher alan watts.

not brilliant so much in regards to popularity-very few have heard of alan watts-but still brilliant thinkers in their own respect.
