Hey guys I posted couple days ago about some plants I have in flower. The response I got was most likely fox tailing. I'm a novice grower and have been lucky enough not to run into any problems. This is driving me crazy though. My third time growing White Diesel. The first grow was flawless. The second time had this problem and threw out an entire crop because I didn't know what happen. This crop is doing same thing!?!? The plants are in week 6 of a 9 week flower. It happened about same time last time. I cannot figure it out. Only thing I did different was use Rhino Skin from AV to strengthen the stalks. I guess my question is should I finish the crop? I'm a caregiver and don't want to harvest and give my patients bad meds. Will this affect any potency? And can I harvest with all the new white hairs?? Grew in same room with same lights. All conditions remained the same for all three grows. I've attached a couple pics to see what you guys think. Thanks a lot
Some strains are more prone to foxtailing, although it's usually cause or exasperated by high temps. I'm fairly certain one of the strains I grew out a few years ago did this. I honestly don't remember if it effected the high or not, but I don't think it does?
You threw a crop out for foxtail, you really should have done a bit of research dude, Sent from my GT-I8190N using Grasscity Forum mobile app
hahaha yes I did toss it. I didn't know how to explain it and assumed I wrecked it....so your saying its still good BoxMaster? Should I continue my regular feeding schedule. Thanks for the response
My last grow had a small amount of foxtailing, but I had some mad heat issues(summer). This time round I have no heat issues and the foxtails are not coming out. I loves em cause I'll put those little foxtails into my joints to give em some structure. Smokes te same
I had foxtailing on some buds that were too close to the light, they're really loose but they're alright. I would say overall it's bad though.
will the trichomes still change color white the new white hairs? Is it ok to harvest with the white hairs?
Foxtailling is something I've come across many times with lots of different genetics. Usually it tends to happen near the end, and kind of give a 'crown' to some of your colas, or if it's a more sativa variety than it might just grow like that in general. To answer your question, there's nothing wrong it with. The only reason why people try to avoid it is for commercial reasons, since it's more profitable to grow thick dense buds in that same space. If you are growing just for yourself though then it shouldn't be an issue at all. I enjoy when some of my buds foxtail, I take great care trimming to make sure that they stay in their pristine shape like it was on the live plant so I can enjoy it up until I smoke it. Check out this variety called sugar cane: Or a neat vintage sativa (I absolutely LOVE when buds grow like this I definitely want to get my hands on some genetics that are like this):
I really like foxtailing in trainwreck and master kush, for example. The buds seem more resistant to mold as well.
ok thanks a lot. I'll just continue as scheduled and wait for the trichomes to change....should have came here before tossing that last crop!!
I think it's ugly no harm in it though I guess I recently had a pickup of some no name dank fox tailed out the ass I pulled off and smoked em first lol Sent from my iPhone 5s using Grasscity Forum..💨⛽ï¸
The pics in the OP look like a typical swell period and not foxtailing... kinda funny you threw out your buds because they grew lol.
Johnny blaze. THANK THE FUCKING LORD. HOLY SHIT PEOPLE SPEAK UP. this is NOT foxtailed bud. I think there was the same thread already why is this still going Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Grasscity Forum mobile app
