fox farm soil question

  1. i think that my cheap home depot soil is locking out nutes due to low ph, my water is ph balanced and still acidic even after 5 gal flush. so the next time around i want to use the right soil.
is the fox farm ocean mix a good one to use (best)? do i have to add any pearlite or anything or is it already at it's best. thanks.

  2. its the best stuff ive used.a run off with ph corrected wated game me a good 6.5 ph. i ph corect my water and nute mix to 6.5 so its pretty rock solid stuff.

  3. so you don't have to add any sand or pearlite? just straight out of bag?

  4. I didn't add anything. You could add some more perlite but it already drains instantly. The water goes right through but it still retains all the moisture that sticks to the soil for a very long time, mostly in bigger pots 3 to 5 gallon. In smaller pots it drys up pretty quick. The soil doesn't break down as fast as general potting soil that you would find at home depot, menards etc and continues to remain soft/maintains drainage through out the grow.
