    Or NOT?

Im talking about marijuana legalized not just for medical use for terminally ill people but for recreational use at least by adults over 21. These are two separate issues. When I say a majority of the public, Im not just talking about marijuana activists and stoners who like getting high. Im talking about everyone else, the average everyday citizen, people who dont smoke pot, people who dont care about pot, and all the parents with kids that are so concerned about their safety.

Does anyone think all those people on your side would support legalizing marijuana or at least a majority of them? Would they agree and be ok with pot shops everywhere the same way theres all these bars and liquor stores everywhere, and letting people grow their own pot at home? Would they vote on a law that would allow that or not?

I dont want to hear any assumptions or what you hope to hear. I want to know the truth of what everyone else would think about it. For marijuana to be legalized its not enough for people like us on this site to vote for it. People who dont smoke pot would have to vote for it. People who dont care about pot would have to vote for it. All those parents with kids would have to vote for it. A lot of people are scared to death about what might happen and say think of the children.

What do you think and why? How do you get enough of them on your side so that Amendment 64 in Colorado, Octa in Oregon and I-502 in Washington get at least 50 percent plus one more vote? Theres been 8 previous attempts to get marijuana legalized and they all failed. I just want to see it pass but the voters keep rejecting it.

  2. What is it that you hope to hear from us? I dont think you can handle the truth...braj.

  3. Try doing some reading on your own. The answer to your question is common knowledge around here...

But since you likely can't be bothered, the last poll I saw came in at 56% in favor of legalizing and regulating like alcohol. You'll have to look it up yourself. Do you google?
    evidently not...

  4. This guy just posts hypothetical question after hypothetical question in multiple sections of the forum, often the same question worded differently. I think he just likes to read his own posts. He never responds to his own thread to give his own input.

  5. Seeing the way life rolls, as in, old people get older and die, and the younger get older and become head leaders, majority of the Generation Y favor marijuana legalization. Along with Gen X. The number of support for Marijuana legalization will only go higher(no pun intended) as the years go by. By the time we're all in our 50-60s, I'm pretty sure it will be regulated.

  6. it dont matter....everyone likes strippers and porn, but ask how many people with families and kids want to live next to a strip joint??

that's why I cant even understand how can people raise a family in a place like Vegas.

  7. Those who oppose it do so out of fear. Whether it's the scare campaigns, what they've been taught or simply because they are unable to clearly understand what the word 'drug' actually means, they're afraid of it and what it would do to society.

From all the polls and studies i've seen, there's a clear dividing line and both sides are pretty evenly split. Sometimes 40/60, 50/50 or even 60/40, but polls like these are usually voted on by people who have strong opinions one way or the other, so a solid indication of support is hard to assess in regards to the general population.

I think that once you remove the activists and prohibitionists, what's left is a large group of people who simply don't know what to think. If people are unsure about a law, they're far more likely to simply agree with the government and support what they believe in.

Education is the key. Not posters with big pot leaves and "Legalize it" written beneath it, but cold hard facts. I truly believe that in comparison with alcohol and tobacco, logic is on our side in this fight, and I truly believe we are on the road to legalization.
