Someone please find me the chances of this happening.

Theres 29 people in a class. 1 is a retard. They are put randomly in groups of 3 and one group of 2. What are the chances that i am going to be placed in the group of 2 with the retard and have a completly nonfunctional group for this assignment. I want to know the odds.

Cause everything in the universe worked against me just to fuck me over. Happy now universe?

Edit: hes not a retard retard. Hes a total moron and is wierd as fuck and socially awkward. Never showers and has long wierd bowlcut/hippy style hair. Man i cant even describe it.

You can't give odds on RNG. But 1/28 if you pretend everything was predetermined.

I wish I could de-rep for the retard comment. My love of math made me post dam it!

  4. If you're the dude in the group who actually participates and does work (I feel ya bro, this shit BLOWS) then you will most likely get tossed into a group with A.some random bitch who dont give two shits bout nothing B.some douchefuck who doesn't participate or work and it fucks YOU! and C. the weird dude, this is how it ALWAYS seems to work out, for me at least. LOL I completely misread that shit, yea that blows dude..

  5. I could be wrong but It may be

(2/29)(1/28)=2/812 or 1 out of 406 or about .25% chance of happening.

  6. Yeah i figured...

Well, there's gonna be 10 groups total. So your chance of being in a group of 2 is one in ten. Thats also his chances as well. Im gonna go out on a limb and say one in a hundred.

But you should be understanding that not all people are born as gifted as most of us, and they can't help it.

  8. your chances are slim brother, but shit i know ur worries, i always get grouped up with people who are fucking useless

  9. the odds are 1 in 406. I wouldnt worry too much :p

Thanks. This is what i needed. That is how much everything hates me.

The worst part is im the ONLY person getting a 50 in the course atm FOR NO REASON. Our old teacher left and some other took over and something got fucked over and now im getting a 50. I have handed everything in and beem getting 70-90's and im stuck with a 50 and a total moron on a project thats worth 15 percent of our term mark. So. Yeah.

It blows for sure man. Fuckk. 1/406 and it happened...

  14. Do you ever talk to this "retard" maybe he is pretty awesome and will actually do his fair share.

Also that guy who was talking about the group dynamics when they are randomly assigned...so true.

  15. The irony

  16. Of what?

  17. Wouldn't it be (1/10) * (1/28) = 0.36%

1/10 chance to be in the group of 2
1/28 chance of being with the weird kid

  18. Shit dude if something got messed up and now ur gettin a shitty mark there is definatly a need to argu that. You have rights and when ur mark just goes to shit for no reason there should be an issue there.

id suggest you talking to ur teacher and telling him to show u all of your marks which total for your final, cus then at least u know what is wrong

Im doing that tommorow for sure. I only just got the marks.
Seriously though. This kid isnt full fledge retard. I edited my OP to define what I meant by "retard".

  20. I don't think. If all the groups had equal number of people that would be true but since one group has only two spots available vs the other groups having three available spots the chance of being placed in that group are slightly lower. Since there are 29 totals available spots and two of those are in the smaller group the chance of being placed in that group initially is 2 out of 29.
