No, It's generally a very bad idea. If nutes get on the bud, the bud starts growing in a bad way it is not suppossed to grow. You'll see. Also, Buds can get wet, but only at perfect moments. If they get wet at the wrong time, and the moisture just sits in the bud, then that is a good environment for mold. Leaves can be foliar fed if necessary to treat. And every leaf should be sprayed every day with distilled water from germ to harvest. All this was learned the hard way. It's my myth, don't repeat it. get yourself one of those 300ml hairsprayers. One gallon of distilled water will last you a lifetime. Don't forget to spray the undersides, that's the best part.
Do it all the time with kelp extract and sometimes use a product called Overgrow . I do it when lights are on so it doesnt sit on buds at evaps off. I havent had any problems
University of Michigan, back in the good old 60's, discovered plants can uptake nutrients through the leaves. Especially the open stomata on the undersides of leaves. They found no burning, unless the salts from the fertilizer were allowed to build up on the leaves. They found it was often the quickest way to feed for a deficiency. However, nobody ever said leaves are better than roots and most agree leaves are less efficient than the roots.
I've sprayed spinosad on buds, angrily, much, more much, and still got stoned just to get the last laugh.
Outdoors the budd get wet every sunrise, and when it rains.? Sent from my Z965 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Morning dew and rain water are very different things than bottled nutrients...at least in my mind they are
In terms of makeup i would say so. I wouldnt think foliar feeding would cause bud rot so much, bottled nutrients id say would indeed leave salt/mineral buildup which wouldn't that wash away with the rain and such? Sent from my Z965 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
As far as spraying your plants in flower I don't see the reward being worth the risk. Maybe to correct a deficiency in early flower. Maybe
When I first started in perlite I had no choice but to foliar feed until my roots hit the reservoir. My seedlings grew twice as fast with foliar feeding. However, twice as fast as normal is not desireable for me. So somebody says do this, it will make your buds big. True, it will, but will the rest of your plant now be able to support those big buds? Not if they get wet. Bigger isn't always better, it's just bigger. You ought to see some of these monster tomatoes people grow around here. They aren't really good for anything but taking pictures and bragging.
Im a soil grower so when I foliar feed, I see results in a day not days like conventional fert delivery. Its nice to get familiar with it so you have it should you need it.
ive just been foilar feeding the fan leaves not the buds aparently that can give them a horrible taste and damage the pistils. i was just wondering how effective it actually is. its interesting reading what you all have to say. does anyone foilar feed a meta boost?
