foggers really work?

  1. Hey, i just bought a single head fogger for cheap, to test it out. i wonder how good they really work? i pored some green food coloroing into the water. then turned on the fogger to see if the fog would be green or not. it was just normal. I thought the fog would've been green too, cuz its not like smoke where its a by product of burning, the fog actually is the water. just like if you freeze the green water it would still be green.

so does that mean if you try to fog a nutrient solution, it would be just like the food coloring and not get into the fog???

food coloring is really light (the consistency) just like the nutrients. and mixes evenely into the water.

  2. actualy, the food coloring WAS in the fog, but the fog particals are so small you cant see that.

anything thats in the water is in the fog ;)

the foggers work great if you use them wisely.

dont forget that the fog will nute burn your plant the same as pooring a full strength nute solution on it, so dont let the fog get above the roots.

I use my 2 foggers in a 18gal ruber made "cloner" I have a 90% survival rate with this cloner, i can just chop off a pice and toss it in and they always root, and the root structures are huge! plus these plants take off, its a very good cloner:)

anyway, check out my 1st grow thread for some action shots :)

  3. yes the fog particles are extemely small, but obviously there is enough added up together to let you see the fog, so there should be enough green fog particles added up all together to at least give the fog a little bit of a green tint or something. i will try to read the fog with my ppm meter fogging ro water at 0-2 ppm, then (using same water) add some nutes, anything doesn't matter, fog it, then try and read it again. but i don't know how accurate the ppm meter will be at measuring fog rather than water, since the fog is a lot less dense.

you said you just use the foggers as a cloner right? do you even mix in nutes for them, or just use plain water? i just bought a little cheap one head fogger to mess around and try things with. but in my next grow or two, i'm gonna get either a 3 or 6 head fogger and use it to feed my plant water and nutes through out the whole grow.

  4. take and add a stong amount of green food coloring and a piece of white paper and let the fogger, fog on to the paper or hold the paper in the fog stream this should help you see the green but it should be there.

  5. Do you root your cuttings in rockwool or some other substance?

Have you ever considered using a fogger for the entire grow?

  6. i have a fogger also and i think it sucks tbh. You cant have water higher than 3 times the size of the fogger so you got to keep filling it.

As for it upping humidity, it doesnt. but thats just me, depends on what you want to use it for

  7. there is a really simple and cheap way to solve that problem. make a float out of styrofoam, or if you buy a fogger unit, the manufacturer might already sell a premade one (under $5). that way you put as much water as you want, (could be 3" could be 20') but the fogger unit will always be floating just below the surface and you will only have to fill the container once all the water evaporates, which could be days

  8. in the next couple of months i am going to try and grow a single plant using a fogger from start to finish. i might also use a nft or flood/drain method to take advantage of some of the nutrient additives that are not "foggable" like the living micro oranisms and shit like that. i used a local hydro stores version of advanced nutrients: voodoo juice, and it worked good as hell. and some other really helpfull addatives are not foggable. but all the nutrients will be fog fed. keep a whatch for it in the grow journals section

  9. dont bother reading the PPMs, i know it works, i've even nute burnt them before from to strong of fog :p

I start out with a realy weak mix (400PPM or less and around 6.2-4PH) and leave it at that if im just rooting them, if they are going to veg a little bit, well i'll strengthen the nutes to 600-700 (depends on strain) and 5.5PH

Here's some that i vegged for a bit, with a lighter for comparison:

I get the cuttings, dip them in rooting powder and toss em strait in the cloner/fogger :)

I've grown the platns pretty tall in the cloner.. but the roots get so long they dip into the water which isn't airated at all, I'm not comfortable with that so i always move them to buble buckets or kill em.

I cut the plants, toss em in the cloner and check back in 10 days.. they always have good roots ;)

if i check back in 15-20 days i get this :

I dont know about you, but i'd say this is one badass way to clone :D
