Foam in aeroponic cloner. Should I be worried?

  1. I am in the middle of my first cloning attempt. I am using an aeroponic cloner.

I applied some rootech gel to the clones and pHd the res water to about 5.8. I use RO water. Apart from the rooting gel, no other stimulants have been added. I didn't have commercial pH down so I used lemon juice to get the pH to my desired range. I should have proper pH up and down soon.

I also threw an airstone into the resevoir as I figured oxygenating the water would be beneficial to the roots. It's been about two days now and I am noticing white foam in the resevoir. The foam looks kind of like what I see when I brew compost teas, but it's not nearly as significant.

Do I have a bacteria problem? Is this going to seriously reduce the likelihood of rooting? Resevoir temperatures are between 72 and 78 degrees.

    Thanks.

  2. Also, I`ve noticed that the pH keeps rising to about 7.2, often within the span of a few hours.

Is that because of the lime juice and white vinegar I`m using to lower pH isnt stable.
