Quick question before I do anything silly. It seems like the jonh innes #2 (&15% pearlite mix) im using for an auto is too hot for it and is giving it nute burns and starting to stunt its growth. So would it be better to do a long flush to try and remove the excess nutes or would it be better to remove the soil and remix it adding more perlite and about 50% soil from the ground? Any input would be good. Thanks. **Delivering your shit via planet express! **
ewwwwwwwwwww yard dirt... Go for the official stoner super soil.. Fox Farms Ocean Forest ... excellent results.. explosive growth.. I even clone in it so it's very safe and won't hurt your plant..
Nothing wrong with good old topsoil from the garden. Plant s grow massive in it with no nutes so it cant be all that bad. But I dont think my local garden centre sells fox farms but I might try it with autos next time round. 1st and LAst time I ever use john innes. I normally jyst plant autos straight into the ground or in normal potting compost without any problems. Just goes to prove the saying 'if it works don't try to fix it'. **Delivering your shit via planet express! **
Ok, I see where your problem is. The john innes #2 is compost, not potting soil. Using pure compost and perlite is too strong for your plant. We usually use compost as an ingredient when mixing soil, but too much isn't a good thing. The soil becomes too heavy, and in your case, too rich. Flushing won't really do any good, since you can't wash the nutrients out of organic matter. It'll just continue to break down and release more nutrients. I'd go ahead and repot with some basic organic potting soil. Whatever you can find locally. If you want to shoot me a pm about where approximately you live, I'd be happy to google grow stores for you.
