Hello All, I have a few old shop light ballasts/hoods that I found in my garage and I was thinking of putting them in my grow room to get some added lighting to the lower parts of my plants. The question I have is this: The fixtures have 2 T-12, 4800k, 34w, CRI 60 bulbs in them. (for a total of 6 bulbs) Would these be good for added light in both vegging and flowering? Also, why do most people use the T-5 size bulbs and not the larger T-12?
Well, with 6 of those, yes, you could successfully grow a crop. You will not yield as high as say a HPS bulb user but you will definitely yield. It's a much better idea to just purchase the real deal. People use T5 florescent lights because they give off a more correct spectrum of light for Cannabis to thrive under.
Oh! Sorry! I didnt mention that I also have a 400w HPS and a MH conversion bulb in the grow room as well. The shop lights would be added lighting for the lower undergrowth of the plants.
Would these be good for added light in both vegging and flowering? Would they be better for one than the other? Also, why do most people use the T-5 size bulbs and not the larger T-12?
