Fluro question

  1. Hello All,

I have a few old shop light ballasts/hoods that I found in my garage and I was thinking of putting them in my grow room to get some added lighting to the lower parts of my plants. The question I have is this:

The fixtures have 2 T-12, 4800k, 34w, CRI 60 bulbs in them. (for a total of 6 bulbs) Would these be good for added light in both vegging and flowering?

Also, why do most people use the T-5 size bulbs and not the larger T-12?

  2. Well, with 6 of those, yes, you could successfully grow a crop. You will not yield as high as say a HPS bulb user but you will definitely yield. It's a much better idea to just purchase the real deal.

People use T5 florescent lights because they give off a more correct spectrum of light for Cannabis to thrive under.

  3. Oh! Sorry! I didnt mention that I also have a 400w HPS and a MH conversion bulb in the grow room as well. The shop lights would be added lighting for the lower undergrowth of the plants.

  4. The more light the better! :D

  5. Would these be good for added light in both vegging and flowering? Would they be better for one than the other?

Also, why do most people use the T-5 size bulbs and not the larger T-12?
