fluorescent lights???

  1. Can using 2 48" cool white fluorescent tubes produce enough light to grow some small buds on 1 female plant from start to finish? I was just wondering because I am low on cash right now because of the Holidaze.

  2. That would probably be enough light to grow some small buds, some very, very small buds. I'd say wait a few more weeks, and use some money you receive for the holidays to get yourself a small HPS light........good luck man.

  3. I think you'd want a minimum of close to 200 watts in order to have a yield worth anything.

  4. Low on cash? Get some CFL's! For one plant, get 1 daylight 30w+ and 2 soft white 42w+. No more than 20 bucks.

  5. I have 4 plants under 4/ 4 foot 40 watt ( damn at the 4s, lol) tubes. I was getting some pretty good flowering about 3 weeks into 12/12. I now have 100 watt cfl and a 70 watt HPS over them, also. I think if you won't be getting any more light for a while, if you leave them in veg longer, you could yield some. do you have big enough pot, maybe at least 5 gal pot to hold your lady for say 120 days, or more if you have that much patience, lol? Kamel won't toot his own horn, so I'll do it for him, check out his sticky on cfls in general indoor growing, very informative.

  6. The biggest problem with the four foot tubes is one of light per square foot. I don't have the info for exactly how much light they produce, but the wattage will give you an idea. Line an area with those bulbs 4 per foot wide(40 watts each), and you only get 40 watts per square foot. The compact flourescents that fit in a regular light socket can be packed in 9 per square foot, so even going with the thirteen watt bulbs, that is almost triple the light.

  8. Not bad... what strain did u grwo if you don't mind me asking? Also, was it soil? How much did each plant yield you?

  9. Thanks for all your comments guys and thats not bad at all for only that much lighting. I am going to go ahead and germinate here pretty soon and start her under 80 watts and then add some more lights as I go. I think i will either add some CFLs or another 80 watts which would be a total of 160 which should be good enough for me. I am not looking for yield but jut trying to get the hang of growing so later on down the road I can invest in some pricier and better lighting once I get more experience. I hopefully then will be ready to purchase also some white widow seeds. I have seeds now from some heavy duty beasters and ok mids. PEACE!!!! and Merry Christmas
