I am building a grow chamber 5 foot tall ,5 foot wide 3 feet thick from wood and lined in reflective mylar . I want to use 8- 42 watt fluorescent "screw in " bulbs Also to keep the power bill low. Will this work? Also I have 4 red led turn signal lights with about 120 leds in each (very bright red light with outer lens removed)I want to use with a 12 volt gell cell battery and solar charger.
LED is an awesome option for a lot of reasons: You will save somewhere between 40% and 75% on your electricity costs by using LED grow lights instead of HID lights including high pressure sodium (HPS) and metal halide (MH) lights. Less heat given off by your grow lights means less probability for burning the tips of your buds, dehydration and other heat-based cultivation issues. LED lights are quite expensive. However, you should realize that there's no need for traditional lighting system accessories including reflectors, vented hoods, ballasts, ducting and more. LED cannabis grow lights feature average lifespans in excess of 50,000 hours. Traditional HID lamps need to be replaced about every 5000 hours. You have to think about these things. You just need enough LEDs to make your plants happy. I've also heard people mix them with other kinds of lights, so that's an option too. Whatever gives your plants the closest thing to real sunlight.
