Will 108w fluerecent be enough to veg 4 plants, im strugeling getting sprouts with my 400w HPS(Seeds didnt grow, think its too hot)... And im out of options!!! Thanx guys...
108 watt what? Is it a T-5? Is it 4 foot long? If so, you should have no problem vegging 4 plants with it...probably puts out 10,000 lumens.
I am germinating the seeds, planted them into party cups and wrapped plastic around to keep moist in but after 1 week none of them sprouted... Its a T8 4 foot long fluerecent, but im ristricted as my box is only 2ft wide, there's a square 108w fluerecent that would fit in my box asswell but its not a T5.. Please help me guys i need my plants to start growing...
I dont think that matters, even if they did sprout, in my experience, 400 watts is way to intense for seedlings.
Can I sprout the seedlings with the fluerecent and maby as soon as they had sprouted can i then put them under the HPS to veg them further???
Sprouting has nothing to do with your lights, you asked about vegging under 108w fluorescent. Doesnt matter what kind of light you have if they dont sprout. Just put your seeds on a damp paper towel and fold it over them and put it in a warm place, keep it damp, not soaked, but damp amd you will have sprouts.
germinating or not makes a lot of difference in sprouting. i agree 400w is too much, but they should have at least popped up before dying unless it is too hot. it probably was considering they were covered and under that big light. all you need for seedlings is a small cfl.after a week or two you can up the light.
thats germinating.... you just told me that doesn't matter... the light does. you are confusing friend.
Hahaha, your right...im confusing myself. He originally asked about vegging under a108 watt fluorescent light, I should have read his question more carefully, I assumed he already had sprouts if he was asking about vegging. My bad. But I use a 400 watt HPS and It will fry my sprouts, I dont use that until I veg them to at least 8" high. I veg under T-5's.
As long as you control the heat, the 400W shouldn't kill sprouts. The light intensity off a 400w isnt crap compared to the sun, it is the fact that most people neglect to control the heat that causes problems. I put mine under the 400w as soon as I was able to get it, they were 3 days out of the ground and havent had any issues with burning.
i only have one issue as my box is only 1 meter high, im waiting for my extractor.. Should a 300mm extractor be enough to get rid of the heat in my box.. have a free hanging wing reflector, so it generates much more heat..
Yea, regrettably mine is one of the open wing reflectors as well. If I am right you are saying you are using a 300mm fan to vent the heat out? It really depends more on what the cfm rating is for the fan than the size. I use a 6" 424 cfm fan in my closet and it gets the job done, but I have a lot more height than you.
im waiting for my fan to be delivered to my house, dont know whats taking them so long!! i'l let you know as soon as I get it, I should get an air cooled hood fixture for my light aswell, the heat piss'n me off
