I have noticed that the ph of my water is all over the place, the tap water is ph 7 and i reduced it to 5.5 with some white vinegar and i did this yesterday and the ph is back up to 7, i have 2 or 3 different water jugs that i use and none f thm will stay at the ph. I figured the problem is that they are to the side of the light to warm up the water and that is whats changing it, but I was just wondering if anyone can give me reasoning why this is happening and what i can do to fix it
You are right! The temp fluctuation will vary pH levels. It will warm as it gets more light and cool as it receives none. just store your water out of direct light, like in a Rubbermaid bin.
It shouldn't vary them so much that his pH is back to 7.0 the next day. My guess is that vinegar lacks the "buffers" they put in actual pH up/down so the vinegar is just evaporating or something. I don't know.
